Rouhani Rivers a Wheel for the Scoop

Livello 11

Omaha-8:

Farzad Rouhani and an unknown opponent were involved in a heads-up pot. The flop fell {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Ronhani called his opponent's bet of 1,000. The turn came {10-Clubs} and again Rouhani called his opponent's bet, this time for 2,000 chips.

River: {A-Clubs}

After the opponent fired another bet of 2,000 into the middle, Rouhani raised it up to 4,000, prompting the other player to stand up and stare his man down. He eventually decided to make the call and was shocked to see Rouhani table the {2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for a rivered wheel straight.

The opponent only recognized the low and asked the dealer "no high hand?" The dealer calmly pushed Rouhani's {2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} to the forefront of the table and said, "He has a straight for a high hand, sir." The opponent was crestfallen and told Rouhani "I had trip tens and a six-low there... nice catch."

Rouhani responded with "I had a flush draw there too, what can I do?" as he scooped the huge pot.

Bach Loses to Ace High

Livello 11

Hold'em:

David Bach raised and the small blind called to see the flop come down {J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}. The small blind bet, Bach raised and the small blind called.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and the small blind check-called a bet from Bach to see the {3-Diamonds} fall on the river. The small blind checked, Bach bet and the small blind called.

Bach tabled the {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a busted straight draw and the small blind showed the {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. The small blind's ace high was the winner and Bach dropped back to 31,000 in chips.

Elezra Continues to Dominate, Scoops Pot With Wheel

Livello 11

Stud-8:

We caught the action as Eli Elezra was involved in a hand with two other players, one of whom was all in for his tournament life.

Elezra: (X)(X) - {4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Opponent # 1: (X)(X) - {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
All-In Opponent: (X)(X) - {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

Eli Elezra bet out on third, fourth, fifth, and sixth streets and was called by both opponents each time. By fifthe street, one of his opponents stood up to await his fate, as he was all in an at risk. His double-paired board appeared to be a strong one, but on seventh street Elezra again fired out a bet and opponent # 1 made the call. Elezra happily announced "Wheel!" as he flipped up his down cards: {A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs} for the nut straight and the nut low.

Neither opponent could table a full house to beat Elezra and the Day 1 chip leader continued his torrid pace, eliminating one player and taking a healthy stack of chips from another.

D'Agostino Scoops

Livello 11

Stud-8:

John D'Agostino: (X)(X) - {3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} - (X)
Player 1: (X)(X) - {2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} - (X)
Player 2: (X)(X) - {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} - fold

John D'Agostino fired all streets and was called all the way down. When the hand got to showdown, D'Agostino's opponent announced that he had a low and a flush with the {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades} from his down cards. The player did have a flush, but actually didn't have a qualifying low. D'Agostino tabled the {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} from his hole four fives full of fours and scooped the entire pot. He's up to 49,000 in chips now.

Welcome to Day 2

Eli Elezra (Event #9)
Eli Elezra (Event #9)

Welcome back for Day 2 of Event #17: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E.. With 185 players remaining from the whopping field of 963 players, today is going to be another great day on the felt. The money line is set at 96 and that will surely be reached today. The man with the best chance to make the money — at least chips wise — is Eli Elezra. He leads the field with 92,100 in chips.

There's plenty of other big names remaining in the field, including Victor Ramdin, Lyle Berman, Patt Pezzin, John D'Agostino, David Chiu and Bryan Micon. We'll be sure to keep you updated to their progress throughout the day as well as everyone else that we can.

The plan for the day will be to play down to a final table is reached or through an entire ten levels. We're going to go out on a limb here and say that it will be the latter that causes play to stop for the day, but you never know. Play is set to kick off shortly at 2:30 PM PT, so stay tuned for all of the action straight from the floor!

Be sure to check out the June 11th update as well from our very own Nicki Pickering.
