See-Saw Battle Continues, Froehlich Doubles Up Twice

Livello 2 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

After Evdakov shoved all-in preflop, Froehlich snap-called and turned over the {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, which was far ahead of the Russain's {K-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The final board read {J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Froehlich built his stack to 212,000 chips.

Just two hands later, on a board of {5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{J-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Evdakov again tried to bully his opponent with an all-in move. Froehlich held the {Q-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a flush and could not be pushed off his hand. He has doubled up twice now and holds approximately 450,000 chips.

Marafioti Grinding

Livello 2 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Over in the small-ball match, Gus Hansen has been limping every button, as he has been for three days now. We pick up another pot as he limps, and Matt Marafioti knocked the table for a free flop. It came {7-Spades} {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}, and Marafioti check-called a bet of 6,000. The turn came the {K-Hearts}, and he check-called another 22,000 to see the {6-Hearts} on the river. When Marafioti checked a third time, Hansen shrugged and pounded the table with his fist.

Marafioti tabled {10-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}, and his trips were as good as he expected. He's now taken a bit of a lead in the match with about 455,000 to Hansen's 345,000, and both men still have 800,000 chips in reserve.

Froehlich Pushing Evdakov Around

Livello 2 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

Eric Froehlich came out swinging in his match against Nikolay Evdakov, using aggression on every street to claim a large pot early in the contest. Froehlich three-bet the action after a flop of {9-Spades}{A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, reraising to 45,000. Evdakov made the call and the dealer peeled the {J-Hearts} on the turn. Froelich led out for 75,000 this time, and again Evdakov came along for the ride. The {5-Clubs} on the river was an all-purpose card, completing straight and flush draws, and Froehlich shoved his stack into the middle. After asking for a count, Evdakov finally released his hand and Froehlich jumped out to an early advantage.

A Fully-Loaded Battle

Livello 1 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Jake Cody has gone ahead and taken his full stack of 1.2 million now, but it's a little shy of that starting count as we speak.

In the last hand, we walked up to a flop of {6-Hearts} {8-Spades} {5-Clubs}, and Cody either bet or raised 74,500 with about 110,000 in the pot. Guetti was out of position, and he raised to about 190,000, forcing Cody to fold.

Right now, Cody is left with about 910,000, giving the other 1.49 million.

Players Electing to Save Their Bullets

Livello 1 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

In the heads-up contests pitting David Paredes against Yevgeniy Timoshenko, and Nikolay Evdakov against Eric Froehlich, all four players have decided to conserve their ammunition and start play with 400,000 chips. The format of this championship event allows each player to utilize two add-ons worth 400,000 each, and while some competitors prefer to begin play with their full stacks of 1.2 million chips, this grouping has taken the conservative route. We will keep you updated throughout the match as to the status of each player's add-ons.

Cody Four-Betting Early

Livello 1 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

The Jake Cody vs. Anthony Guetti match may well be the first one to finish at this pace.

The two men are pulling no punches so far, and we've seen a lot of preflop action. In the most recent hand, Jake Cody opened to 12,000 from the button, and Guetti three-bet to 38,000 rather quickly. Cody took pause before four-betting to 92,000, and Guetii thought better of it and released his hand into the muck.

The Featured Table

Livello 1 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Table 286 is being played over on the third featured table in the new Purple section of the Amazon Room.

In the near match, Anthony Guetti took his full 1.2 million chip stack to begin the match, while his opponent Jake Cody took just one bullet of 400,000. The two men have been playing big preflop pots with not much action thereafter.

In the Gus Hansen vs. Matt Marafioti match, both men have started with just 400,000, and they're playing small pots so far.
