Jason Somerville Leads At End Of Day 2

Livello 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Jason Somerville
Jason Somerville

In these "1k lottos" as they are so fondly called, it is rare to see lots of big names near the very end, but not only do we have big names, they are our chip leaders. Of the 27 remaining players, Jason Somerville is our chip leader with (749,000). Somerville stayed patient throughout the day and only in the last few levels did he go on the run that put him in the position he is now atop the field including this hand that put him over the 700,000 mark.
Jason Somerville and Phillip Sears got it all in on the flop of {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts} Somerville had Sears just barely covered.

Somerville showed {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Sears had {A-}{K-}

The {K-Clubs} turn gave Sears trips, but the {4-Hearts} river gave Somerville the winning flush and skyrocketed him into the chip lead with 740,000.

Tim West had a very similar run where he only got hot near the end of the day and he is now second in chips with 677,000. At Table 373 David Peters moved all in hoping to either double up or steal some blinds. Despite this Tim West made the call and put Peter's tournament life at risk.

Cards were then turned over, and West held {A-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Peters held {K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. After the cards were turned over for the showdown the board ran out {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. West hit an ace high flush and sent David Peters to the rail. This was the second player he busted with {A-}{8-} in a 20-minute span and these two knockouts are what put him in the chip position he is now.

Other notable players include, Valdemar Kwaysser (352,000) Sybe Smit (305,000), and Lex Veldhuis (230,000). Other players over 500k are Brent Shaffer (646,000), James Schaaf (625,000), Yashar Darian (604,000), and Shane Rose (547,000).

We'll play ten levels again tomorrow or down to a bracelet winner (more likely the former though) and it should be an exciting day with so many big names left in the mix. Restart at 2:30 PM PST in the Amazon Room. See you there.
