Gallin Fires Away at Schulman

Matthew Gallin raised in middle position and Nick Schulman re-raised as the next to act. Gallin made the call and check-raised Schulman on the {9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop. Schulman called the bet as well as Gallin’s bets on both the {5-Clubs} turn and {2-Clubs} river. Gallin revealed {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} and his cowboys were good to win the pot.

Here Comes Idema

Last year’s runner up in this event Daniel Idema raised from the small blind and Richard Brodie three-bet from the big. Idema called and both players checked the {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-} flop. Idema led out when the {9-Hearts} hit the turn and Brodie made the call. On the {A-Diamonds} river, Idema check-raised Brodie who called only to be shown Idema’s {A-Clubs}{4-Spades} for aces up on the river. Brodie mucked his hand as Idema took a step forward.

Tulchinskiy Doesn't Make it Out of the Woods

Mikail Tulchinskiy
Mikail Tulchinskiy

Mikail Tulchinskiy raised under the gun only to have Darren Woods three-bet. A raising war between the two saw the action capped, followed by a flop of {6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. Tulchinskiy bet, Woods raised, Tulchinskiy reraise all in, and Woods made the call.

Tulchinskiy: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Woods: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}

Tulchinskiy was in bad shape and it didn't get any prettier as the {5-Diamonds} hit the turn followed by the {7-Diamonds} on the river. Just like that, Tulchinskiy was eliminated from the tournament.

Former Bracelet Winner Johns Still Alive

Livello 16 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Ian Johns
Ian Johns

Ian Johns may not be the most familiar name left in the field, but he is certainly one of the more accomplished one. Johns won his first and only World Series of Poker gold bracelet back in 2006 when he won Event #23 $3,000 Limit Hold'em after outlasting a field of 341 players to claim the $291,755 first-place prize.

Johns, who hails from Washington state, went on to take 17th in the 2007 $5,000 Limit Hold'em Championship for $12,683, 33rd in Event #31 $2,500 No Limit Hold'em/Six Handed in 2008 for $9,775, and third in the 2009 Event #38 $2,000 Limit Hold'em tournament. As you can see, Johns' four WSOP cashes, which total $391,789, have come primarily in limit hold'em tournaments.

With that said, we would be surprised to see Johns add a fifth WSOP cash to that list here tonight.

Kelly Busts Arieh

Josh Arieh
Josh Arieh

Josh Arieh raised under the gun, and Dan Kelly reraised in the hijack. Arieh called, and the players saw a flop of {10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{a-Hearts}. The players got in a raising war that saw Arieh shove the last of his chips in. Kelly made the call, and saw that he was in great shape.

Arieh: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Kelly: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}

The turn brought the {j-Diamonds}, and Arieh could only hope to chop it. The river was the {4-Diamonds}, and that wasn't what Arieh needed. He has been eliminated, bringing us down to 24 players.

Hang Banging Away

Matthew Gallin raised from middle position and Tam Hang re-raised in the cutoff. Gallin called and checked when the {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop came down. This was when fireworks got started where Hang bet and Gallin raised. Hang made it three bets, Gallin four and Hang called. Gallin led out when the {2-Hearts} hit the turn and Hang raised again. This time Gallin just called and he check-called when Hang bet on the {3-Clubs} river. Hang showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for top two and Gallin mucked. The following hand, Hang raised preflop and took down the blinds as well.

Haxton Takes The Chip Lead

Isaac Haxton raised in early position and Mikhail Smirnov called in the small blind. The flop came out {9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{10-Spades}, and Smirnov bet out. Haxton called, and the same thing happened when the {8-Spades} hit the turn. On the river, the {6-Diamonds}, Smirnov checked, and Haxton put a bet out. Smirnov called, then mucked when Haxton showed {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. That pot was enough to put Haxton as our new chip leader with 380,000

Tran Gets Shorter

Cathleen Tran raised in the small blind, and Justin Smith made the call in the big blind. The flop came out {5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, and Tran put out a continuation bet. Smith responded with a raise, and Tran made the call. The {a-Spades} came on the turn, and again, Tran led out. Smith just called this time, and the river came the {a-Diamonds}. Tran bet out again on the river, but Smith came back with a raise. Tran called, and Smith showed {a-Hearts}{8-Spades} for a full house. Tran mucked, and Smith took the monster pot.

Negreanu Straight Flushed Out Of The Tournament

Livello 15 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu was down to his last 20,000, and committed most of that preflop after Tam Hang raised in early position. The flop came out {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{q-Spades}, and Negreanu got the last of his money in, with Hang making the call.

Negreanu: {q-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Hang: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}

Negreanu needed to dodge a king or an eight, and the turn brought the {j-Spades}, giving Negreanu a full house. Negreanu started to say "well that does it" before he stopped himself, realizing that Hang still had straight flush outs. Sure enough, the {k-Spades} hit the river, and Negreanu nearly drop kicked the table jumping out of his seat. A frustrated Negreanu let out a few words of disbelief before walking away from the tournament and out of the room. With that elimination, we are seven players from the money.
