All Points Bulletin: Possible Scooter Thief on the Prowl

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

During the last hour we were questioned briefly by casino security personnel regarding the case of a missing scooter. Apparently a player in the Seniors Championship parked his scooter nearby while competing in the event, and in the ultimate of bad beats, he hit the rail to discover somebody had made off with his ride.

While this may be simply a mix-up, with one player confusing their vehicle with another, the security guards here at the Rio were taking the matter seriously. They have begun their investigation with the age-old method of retracing the victim's steps, and at the pace we last saw them walking, the search for the missing scooter may go on long into the night.

Color Up

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

Players are now on a 20-minute break so tournament staff can color up the chips. When we return we will play one more level to end the day.

Stern Sent Home on Sick Beat

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

A player in middle position raised to 600 and Max Stern called from the cutoff. The blinds came along as well.

The flop came {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and action checked around to the original raiser, who c-bet for 2,000. Stern raised to 6,000 and the blinds folded. Stern's opponent announced she was all-in and Stern snap-called for his remaining 14,000.

Stern: {9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

Stern was in excellent shape to double up after the {2-Spades} fell on the turn. But a cruel river brought the {J-Clubs}, pairing Stern's opponent and sending the three-time bracelet winner to the rail.

Anthony Vidmer Vanquishing Opponents With Pocket Fours

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

At the self-proclaimed "most entertaining table in the room," we caught up with a player currently in ownership of a stack equaling more than 40,000.

Anthony Vidmer was holding court over his castle of chips and laughing along with his fellow players. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the banter and when we asked for Vidmer's chip count, his tablemates made sure that we knew exactly how he earned those chips.

"Make sure you tell the world he got all that money with pocket fours... twice!" said the player in the next seat, while Vidmer tried in vain to get an accurate chip count for us. We asked Vidmer if this tale was true and he simply pointed to the back of his customized #44 football jersey, telling us "Yep. Flopped a set both times too!"

His jersey already adorned with his last name, Anthony Vidmer can now say that it features his favorite poker hand as well.

The Webb Family Reveling in Gregory's Run

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

Earlier in the day a delightful lady and her daughter were spotted cheering on their horse in the Seniors Championship, one Gregory Webb of San Diego, California. The women were heard asking each other if the green 25 denomination chips were the highest, or if it was the other way around. After we let them know the score, Webb's family took the time to let us know a little bit about him, including the fact that he cashed in this event last year, finishing in 191st place.

Webb's wife knew the number by heart, and we could tell that during the last year Gregory had made sure she knew just how far he had made it at the WSOP.

With a stack of around 14,000 chips at the time, Webb appears to be following his 2010 performance with another admirable showing, and this time he will be looking to go 190 spots further en route to capturing the gold bracelet.

Irving Pushes with Kings

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

Bill Scara opened up the preflop action with a raise to 1,400. A player in middle position reraised to 3,200 and Peyser Irving reraised to 8,000. Scara folded and the player in middle position tanked for a while and folded after stating that he "must have aces."

Irving showed pocket kings and took down the pot.

How Fun Indeed

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

We passed by a table and caught Jim Puritz with all of his chips at risk against the {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} held by his opponent. Puritz was dominated with his {A-Spades}{10-Spades} and stared stoically at the dealer while awaiting the board cards.

The dealer spread a flop of {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Purtiz was down to three outs if he was to survive. The {9-Hearts} on the turn closed his window even further and now the {10-Hearts} would be no good, as it would make his opponent the nut flush.

When the dealer flipped up the {10-Clubs} on the river, Puritz dropped his poker face and broke into a huge grin. "Woo-hoo, how fun!" he exclaimed as the pot was pushed his way, and with the win Puritz positioned himself to make Day 2 with a stack of around 12,000 chips.

Charlie Sewell Still Running Good

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

During the recent twenty-minute break a man walked up to report that he now sits with 42,000 chips. We recognized the player from a few previous events this year and it turned out to be Charlie Sewell of Edmond, Oklahoma.

We first encountered Sewell during Event # 3, the $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournament, in which he finished in 277th place and earned $2,444 for his efforts. The field in that event topped out at 4,178 runners, meaning Sewell has experience navigating his way through the minefield of the WSOP's largest events.

Sewell was also the one-time chip leader during Event # 12, the Triple Chance No-Limit Hold’em tournament, and according to him, he is "running really good" so far this summer. Now that we know Sewell is in attendance today, we will be sure to check back in to see if he continues running good in this Senior's Championship.
