Bag 'Em and Tag 'Em, Day 1's Over

Livello 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

Day 1 of Event #32: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em has concluded. Another enormous field of 2,828 runners came out for this one, making it another great starting day for a 2011 World Series of Poker event. Adam Lippert should be the overall leader heading into Day 2 with 144,800 in chips. That is, unless we missed someone hiding among the masses. Under 400 players remain and we're less than 100 eliminations away from the money.

A lot of faces were spotted throughout the day, but the following group was nowhere to be found at the end of it. MIke Leah, Phil Laak, Jean-Robert Bellande, Jerry Yang, Dwyte Pilgrim, Scotty Nguyen, Joe Cada, Kara Scott, Kathy Liebert, Adam Levy, Ronnie Bardah, Allen Cunningham and Jeff Madsen all played, but were eliminated on the day. Humberto Brenes, Jason Mercier, Gualter Salles, Andre Akkari, Martin Hruby and Randy Lew were some of the Team PokerStars players who hit the rail as well on Day 1.

There's plenty of notables still remaining in this field including Chino Rheem and Martin Kabrhel. Every time we see these two in an event, they're always stacking towers. Rheem bagged up 101,500 to end the night while Kabrhel finished with 94,800. They'll be towards the top of the bunch to start things off tomorrow. Joining them in the mix will be Kyle Cartwright, Layne Flack, Tim West, Brent Hanks, Josh Brikis, Todd Terry and Justin Young.

Day 2 is scheduled for a 2:30 PM PT start on Sunday and the plan is to work down to a final table. Of course, the event will probably play out a full ten levels before a final table is reached, which means we'll be coming back on Day 3 with a few tables, not just one. It's going to be another great day of poker, so be sure to keep your browsers pointed to PokerNews for all the live coverage from the 2011 WSOP!

Hudson Shoved On

Spencer Hudson opened from under the gun to 1,800 and the player in the next seat called. Everyone else folded and the dealer ran the {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop across the middle of the felt. Hudson fired 2,800 and his opponent called.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Hudson checked with right about 25,000 behind. His opponent quickly announced that he was all in, having Hudson covered. Hudson folded and his opponent won the pot.

Rheem Can't Call Shove

Livello 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

Action folded to the cutoff seat and he raised to 1,900. Chino Rheem was in the big blind and three-bet to 5,500 after action folded to him. The cutoff moved all in for 32,200 and Rheem gave it some thought. He eventually folded his hand and his opponent showed just the {A-Diamonds}.

Tim West Scores Big

Raising under the gun Tim West was only able to convince the big bling to pay the discounted price to see a flop of {4-Hearts}{K-Spades}{10-Hearts}. After the big blind checked West bet out and was reraised around 15,000. West then went all in putting his opponent all in, who called.

West: {K-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Opponent: {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The turn-river brought only good news to West as the {5-Hearts} on fourth street, and the {9-Spades} on the river. West eliminated his opponent with a pair of kings and gained a lot of chips in the process.

Brikis Holds

Josh Brikis (Event #9)
Josh Brikis (Event #9)

Josh Brikis just woke up to a dream. With two players all in ahead of him, Brikis looked down and squeezed two aces. He made the call and just about tripled his stack to 42,000 in chips after the aces held up against pocket queens and {K-}{J-}.

One for Amak

Amit Makhija bet 2,600 on the {5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop and his opponent made the call. The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {K-Hearts} fall on the river and complete the board. Makhija bet 8,000 and his opponent folded.
