Giorno 2 completo

Day 2 Concludes with Mike Souza Leading the Field

Livello 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Mike Souza - Chipleader With 27 players left
Mike Souza - Chipleader With 27 players left

It was an action packed day here in the Amazon room. Of the 323 players who started the day only 27 remain. Our chipleader heading into day 3 is Mike Souza who finished the day with 650,000 in chips. Souza is no stranger to the WSOP as he has cashed in numerous WSOP events as well as WSOP Circuit events. He will no doubt be the favorite to win the bracelet heading into Day 3.

As a result of the money bubble breaking right before the end of play last night, we saw a large number of eliminations happen very quickly at the beginning of the day. Among the players that hit the rail there were a number of notables including PokerStars Team Pro Gualter Salles, Barry Shulman, Dwyte Pilgrim, Gabriel Nassif, Chad Batista, Cody Slaubaugh, and Stephen Chidwick.

Other players at the top of the chip counts heading into Day 3 are Robbie Verspui with 602,000, Jeremy Kottler with 579,000, Paulus Valkenburg with 552,000 and Justin Cohen with 524,000.

We're sure the action will be exciting tomorrow as these last three tables of players battle it out for the gold bracelet and $488,283 that will go to our eventual champion. Play will resume in the Amazon room tomorrow at 2:30pm.

Make sure to stick with PokerNews for all your WSOP updates!

Mistake Costs Sosa

Hai Chu went all in for 98,000 in early position but Daniel Sosa didn’t see the all in and put in 30,000 on the button. The floor had to be called over and they ruled that Sosa’s amount had to stay in the pot, even if he folded. After some deliberation, he called the 68,000 more and both blinds got out of the way.

Chu: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Sosa: {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

The board ran out {5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} and provided no help to Sosa who doubled up Chu.

Vanderveen Doubles, Jacobsen Busts

It's been a bit of an up and down battle for Trevor Vanderveen with his chipstack over the last few levels. Most recently he was involved in a hand where Philip Jacobsen raised on the button. Vanderveen woke up with pocket queens in the small blind and went all in for around 160,000. Jacobsen called but found he was behind.

Vanderveen: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Jacobsen: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {k-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Vanderveen doubled to 325,000 while Jacobsen's stack dropped to 65,000.

Shortly after that hand took place, Jacobsen went all in and was eliminated from the tournament.

Rushton Rushes Up the Leaderboard

Adam Cader went all in for 53,000 from under the gun with Lee Satterwhite and Michael Rushton calling from the button and small blind respectively. Both players playing for a potential sidepot checked on the {Q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop and Satterwhite checked again when the {2-Diamonds} hit the turn. Rushton however went all in himself for 163,000 and Satterwhite quickly made the call as all three players exposed their hands.

Rushton: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Satterwhite: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Cader: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Rushton held top set and had both players drawing dead which eliminated Cader and took a huge hit to Satterwhite’s stack.
