The Course Walked in the H.O.R.S.E. Championship; Ron "Grumpy" Ware On Show

Another day in the halls of the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino has come to a close for the 2011 World Series of Poker with the Event #37: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship and its remaining players bagging their chips for the evening.

Following the numbers set in the previous mixed game championships, many were sceptical of the number that would be attracted to one of the final big buy-in events of the series. Although we didn't surpass the number set last year, this year's field fell just one shy as 240 players took to the felt.

Not too many eliminations were expected today, but nearly sixty players found themselves on the rail with Ron "Grumpy" Ware sitting atop with an amassed 122,300 in chips. Of the two other players (that we are aware of) that sit in the six-figure club was also located on Ware's table with Dusty Leary bagging 114,000 ahead of Eugene Katchalov (101,600). Daniel Negreanu (99,900) Tom Koral (98,400), Barry Greenstein (86,900), Chris Tryba (84,400) and Robert Mizrachi (75,400) are just a few more of the notables possessing an ample amount of chips.

With a $609,130 first prize and coveted gold bracelet on the line, the short stacks of Mike Matusow, Mickey Appleman, Frank Kassela and David Baker cannot be ignored as anything can happen over the next two days. The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be back on the floor tomorrow from 3:00 p.m. PDT providing continuous live updates as we aim to play down until just a final table of eight remain in Event #37: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship!

Sarah Grant talked to Mike Matusow. Check it out.

Klodnicki Bests Singer

Hold'em

Action folded to the button and Chris Klodnicki raised. David Singer three-bet from the small blind and Phil Laak called from the big blind. Klodnicki also called.

The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Singer bet. Laak folded and Klodnicki called.

The turn was the {A-Spades} to pair the board. Singer bet and Klodnicki called.

The river was the {6-Hearts} and Singer checked after thinking for a little bit. Klodnicki fired a bet and Singer gave it up.

Hang Chips Up

Omaha-8

Tommy Hang just picked up some more chips. We got to the table with the board of {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{K-Hearts} laid out in the middle of the table and Hang fired a bet. His opponent thought for a minute or so and then gave it up, allowing Hang to chip up about 6,000 or so.
