Rousso Tripped Up

Livello 7 : 200/400, 50 ante
Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso

Vanessa Rousso has slipped back to short-stack status of late. Just now we picked up a hand in which she was trying to turn things around.

Rousso had opened with a UTG raise and got one caller in the big blind. The flop came {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}, and Rousso's opponent check-called her continuation bet of 2,000. Both then checked the {5-Clubs} turn.

The river brought the {2-Spades} and a bet of 4,000 from Rousso's opponent. Rousso thought about it, then called, tabling {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. But opponent had {Q-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for trip nines, and thus claimed the pot.

Rousso now sits with 9,100.

Hellmuth Holds

Livello 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

A player in middle position opened to 800, another player on the button three-bet to 2,200, and Phil Hellmuth cold-called from the small blind. The original raiser came along for the ride, and the dealer fanned {7-Hearts}{2-Spades}{6-Spades}. Hellmuth led out for 2,000, and only the original raiser called.

Both players checked the {a-Diamonds} on the turn, and the {6-Clubs} on the river. Hellmuth opened up {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for a pair of threes, they were good, and the Poker Brat was awarded the pot.

Negreanu Fills Up, Busts Opponent

When we reached Table 6, Daniel Negreanu and an opponent were heads up with the board reading {2-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Negreanu check-called a 10,000-chip bet, and the turn brought the {7-Hearts}. Negreanu checked again, his opponent moved all in for 15,000, and Negreanu snapped it off.

Negreanu: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Opponent: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The river was paint, but the {j-Diamonds} changed nothing. Negreanu's opponent hit the rail, while Kid Poker raked in a massive pot to push his stack above 60,000 chips.

Some Grins from the Grinder

Livello 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

A player under the gun raised to 900 and it folded around to Michael Mizrachi in the small blind. The Grinder grabbed a handful of chips off his stack and tossed them forward, a reraise to 4,200. The player in the big blind then checked his cards, waited a beat, and announced he was all in, setting the 25,000 or so he had before him. The original raiser folded and Mizrachi quickly called.

Mizrachi showed {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and his opponent {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}. The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, and soon the dealer began the business of dividing the chips in half. As he did, Mizrachi reached over and with a wry smile slid his king over to his opponent, then slid his opponent's ace over to match his, pushing the hands forward as if to fool the dealer. While neither player picked up much in the way of chips that hand, all at the table gained a few laughs.

Mizrachi is sitting with about 60,000 at the moment.

Swidler Trending Up

Livello 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

In one of the first hands beck from dinner, Carter Swidler had a short-stacked opponent all in preflop. Swidler's {a-}{q-} was racing against his opponent's {7-}{7-}, but he flopped a boat when the dealer fanned {a-}{a-}{q-}. Swidler's opponent didn't hit running sevens, and the Canadian is now up to 54,000 chips.

Ladny Out

Livello 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

"Hey Wretchy!" Eric Ladny shouted at Dan Martin right before dinner break. "Wanna watch me get knockout out?"

Ladny was faced with an all-in bet with the board reading {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. He called, and his opponent opened up {9-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a rivered straight. Ladny laughed, mucked his hand, and exited the tournament.
