Michael Weyer Eliminated in 12th Place ($53,072)

Michael Weyer Eliminated in 12th Place

From under the gun, Sami Kelopuro raised to 80,000 and Dario Alioto called on the button. Michael Weyer was in the big blind and reraised all in for 225,000 total. After some thought, Kelopuro reraised all in himself and Alioto got out of the way.

Kelopuro: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Weyer: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}

The flop hit Kelopuro hard when it landed the {j-Hearts}{q-Spades}{6-Clubs}. Not only did he hit a set to put him in the lead, he also flopped an up and down straight draw that took away Weyer's ability to regain the lead with a set of Kings. The turn was the {9-Spades} which gave Weyer some hope but ultimately the {6-Diamonds} river sealed his fate.

Kelopuro now has 1.1 million chips and we are just one elimination away from our unofficial final table.

Lamb Takes Wood to School Some More

Ben Lamb
Ben Lamb

Cory Wood raised to 90,000 and Ben Lamb flatted from the small blind. The flop came down {5-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {3-Clubs} hit on the turn. Both checked again. The dealer dealt the {K-Spades} on the river and Lamb checked. Wood fired 115,000 and Lamb check-raised to 400,000. Wood made the call, but mucked when Lamb tabled the {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a rivered full house.

Alioto Doubles Up Through Kabbaj

Livello 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Dario Alioto raised to 80,000 and John Kabbaj reraised the pot from the big blind to 260,000. Alioto potted right back and was all in for 440,000. Kabbaj called.

Kabbaj tabled the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Clubs}. He was up against the {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for Alioto. The flop, turn and river ran out {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Alioto doubled to 900,000. Kabbaj dropped back to 750,000.

King Switches It Up

Livello 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Christopher King has often raised the pot preflop, but this time min-raised to 80,000. Sami Kelopuro called from the big blind and the flop came down {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Kelopuro checked and King fired 100,000. Again, this was a little out of the ordinary as King has so often been betting the full amount of the pot. At any rate, Kelopuro folded and King won the hand.

Lamb Teaches Wood

From under the gun, Cory Wood limped in. Ben Lamb raised to 180,000 from the button and Wood made the call to see the {J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop. Wood checked and Lamb bet the pot for 420,000. Wood folded and Lamb scooped the pot.

"That'll teach you to limp, buddy," Lamb said with a smile.

Two Tables, Two Styles

Livello 25 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Matt Glantz and Dario Alioto were the first to notice the contrasting differences in playing styles between the players at the two tables.

At Alioto's table, the first player into the pot after the blinds is consistently opening with a raise. It also isn't uncommon to see a raise of the pot at any time during the hand, preflop or postflop.

At Glantz's table, limping into the pot preflop is not only occurring, but is becoming common. The pots are being played multi-way as they try to outplay each other postflop. Also, preflop raises are either a min-raise or just over a min-raise, allowing three-bets to get called and blinds to defend more often.

Justin Schwartz Eliminated in 13th Place

From the button, Josh Tieman raised to 80,000 with Justin Schwartz in the big blind. With just 130,000 left behind after his blind, he felt pot committed enough to make the call.

Tieman: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Schwartz: {q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}

The flop was {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} which left Schwartz drawing pretty thin. The {9-Hearts} turn and {8-Spades} river bricked off for him and he walks to the rail eliminated in 13th place.
