Action folded to Randy Lew on the button and he put in a raise to 250. Mike Sowers called from the small blind and the big blind came along for the ride as well. When the flop fell , Sowers checked, the big blind bet 475, Lew called, and Sowers got out of the way.
It was heads up to the flop, which saw the big blind bet out 750. Again Lew called and the two players watched the appear on the river. The big blind ended up check-calling a bet of 2,750 from Lew, who immediately mucked. The big blind showed to take down the pot.
We caught up with the action on an board with 6,700 in the pot. Isaac Haxton bet 4,400 and his opponent called after a few moments, mucking when Haxton tabled .
Not surprising to see several more familiar faces in this $10K NLHE Six-Handed Championship. Also arriving early (though not as early as Lex Veldhuis), we find Jude Ainsworth, Eric Froehlich, Jonathan Duhamel, Rene Angelil, Vicky Coren, Annette Obrestad, David Benyamine, Justin Young, Vitaly Lunkin, Bill Klein, Juha Helppi, Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott, Phil Laak, Adam Junglen, and Sam Stein.
Dan Kelly raised to 300 on the button and was called by the player in the small blind.
The flop fell and both checked to see the turn card. The player in the small blind checked to Kelly who bet 400. However, Kelly found himself facing a check-raise to 1,200. After a few moments he called, seeing the hit the river. The player in the small blind bet 2,000, but soon watched Kelly pop it to 5,000.
A fold from the player in the small blind gave Kelly the early pot.
A few empty seats here at the start of Level 1 -- not too surprising given the 30,000-chip starting stacks.
Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis was the first to arrive, coming a full seven minutes early. When the dealers noticed him looking for his seat, they burst into applause, congratulating him for being the first to make it. He smiled and started to sit, then realized he'd stopped at the wrong table, eliciting laughter all around. Fickle crowd!
