No Ninth Bracelet For Seidel

Erik Seidel was riding a fairly short stack for most of the past few hours, and that finally caught up to him, as he has just been eliminated. Fabrizio Gonzalez made it 12,000, and it folded around to Seidel in the big blind. He announced pot, and Gonzalez thought very briefly before announcing all in. Seidel called, and the cards were flipped up.

Seidel: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Gonzalez: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}

The flop was ugly for Seidel, as it came {8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. This gave Gonzalez the nut low, and Seidel would need a king, three, or seven to make a better high hand. The turn came the {6-Spades}, giving him no help, and the river brought the {j-Diamonds}. Gonzalez scooped the pot, and the most decorated player in the field was sent to the rail.

Kessler Quarters Hennigan

We caught up with the action heads up between Allen Kessler and John Hennigan on a {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop where each player had what looked to be 45,000 in front of them already. The action was on Kessler who announced all in which wasn’t quite possible as the pot was only 105,000 and he had more behind. Hennigan had already said call so the players would see the {7-Diamonds} on the turn where Kessler now said all in. Hennigan made the call and Kessler told him that he (Hennigan) was probably winning three-quarters as the players turned up their hands.

Kessler: {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Hennigan: {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs}

Both players held the same low while Kessler’s pair of sixes were actually ahead for the high. The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Kessler was in fact the one who won three-quarters to boost his stack while Hennigan took a hit.

Trai Dang: First To Claim His Prize

The bubble just burst, and Trai Dang is the first player out in the money. He got the rest of his short stack in preflop, and Trevor Reader was the only caller.

Reader: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}
Dang: {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

The flop was ugly for Dang, coming {k-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, giving Reader a royal flush draw and giving virtually nothing to Dang. The turn brought the {q-Spades}, and Dang was drawing dead. The meaningless river came the {j-Diamonds}, giving Reader an unnecessary straight, and he took the pot to boost his chip stack over 150,000.

Brandon Paster, Bubble Boy

Lee Watkinson raised the pot on the button and Brandon Paster, who was all in against Watkinson the previous hand when the two chopped, raised all in from the big blind for 22,000 total. Watkinson made the call and after having to wait until the other tables were finished their hands, the players flipped their cards.

Watkinson: {9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Paster: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Paster was ahead until the {K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop came down to give Watkinson the lead with bottom set. Paster could still stay alive with an ace, jack or running cards. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} to give Paster a flush draw but the river was the {K-Clubs} to fill Watkinson up and eliminate Paster in 37th place, one short of the money as this tournament’s bubble boy. The remaining players will now all receive at least $10,091 for their efforts.

Recently Crippled Vaswani Triples

Ram Vaswani moved all in for his last 11,500 in early position and was called by the man who crippled him, Trevor Reader, who was next to act as well as Gary Bolden from the big blind.

Reader and Bolden both checked the {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop and {7-Diamonds} turn until the {10-Diamonds} hit the river and Bolden bet 20,000. Reader folded and Bolden turned over {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a flush. Vaswani flipped up {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} however for the nut flush which was good to win the hand and keep him alive.

Vaswani Crippled On Bubble

Anders Taylor raised it up to 10,000, and Vaswani raised pot, which was for most of his stack. It folded to Trevor Reader, who reraised all in for around 70,000 total. Taylor thought for 30 seconds before folding, and Vaswani put the small amount leftover for a call.

Vaswani: {4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Reader: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{2-Clubs}

The flop came out {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, giving Reader a made nut low and keeping his aces out in fromt. The {8-Spades} on the turn strengthened his lead, and the {8-Clubs} on the river gave him an unbeatable full house. Reader got a crucial double up, while Vaswani was knocked down to 10,000.

Sofer Busts to Force Hand-for-Hand Play

Austin Marks min-raised to 10,000 from under the gun and it was folded all the way around to the big blind in Evan Sofer who called. On the {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop, Sofer led for 10,000 and Marks raised the pot. Sofer called all in for the 12,000 he had left as the players flipped their hands.

Marks: {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Sofer: {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades}

Sofer’s pair of sixes were ahead for the time being plus he had a wrap and a low draw against the pair of fives and nut-low draw of Marks. The {9-Spades} turn changed nothing but the {10-Diamonds} on the river gaves Marks tens up to eliminate Sofer in 38th place, just two short of the money.
