Mozhnyakov Closing In On 500,000

Livello 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Aleksandr Mozhnyakov
Aleksandr Mozhnyakov

It's been a close call as to who the chip leader has been throughout the day. For the time being, it isn't all that close.

We arrived at Aleksandr Mozhnyakov table during the midst of some serious preflop re-raising as Mozhnyakov's eventual victim called a re-raise of 10,000 to see the flop run out {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Mozhnyakov bet 10,000 and his opponent instantly re-raised all in for about 65,000.

An immediate call from Mozhnyakov revealed {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}, well ahead of his opponent's {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}. The {Q-Hearts} turn and {10-Spades} river secured the elimination for Mozhnyakov, upping his stack to 490,000.

Bardah Thinks About Value Against Pantling

Livello 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

From the cutoff seat, Ronnie Bardah raised to 2,800. Wesley Pantling called from the big blind and Bardah made a comment about how Pantling never seems to fold his big blind to him. The two then took the {K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop and both checked.

They also checked the turn {K-Hearts} and river {K-Clubs}. On the end, Bardah made a comment after Pantling checked about how he was thinking about value betting. He then said, "Second nut no pair," and tabled the {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}.

"I wasn't going to call," said Pantling before showing the {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Internet Guys Aren't Supposed to be so Stoic!

Pius Heinz who finished in 7th place in Event #48: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em good for an $83,286 payday has certainly been proving his worth in today's field.

Most recently we caught up with him in a hand where the board was already showing the {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. Heinz had checked and the player in the cutoff bet 25,000.Heinz then stuck out a full stack of orange T5000 chips, 100,000 total, which was more than the other player had left in his stack.

The cutoff went deep into the tank. While Heinz face remained expresionless, the cutoff was showing nothing but distress. He got up from his chair and asked Heinz "If I fold are you going to show me?" but Heinz gave no visible or audible response. After around five minutes had passed the cutoff said "Sorry guys" to the table but no one seemed to mind quite yet.

"I can't put you on a hand ... I'm thinking ace-king" the cutoff said. A few more minutes passed and Heinz asked the dealer to call the clock. After the floor had come over and announced that the cutoff only had 60 seconds left to act the cutoff said "I probably need a clock." He asked Heinz again, "Are you gonna show me if I fold?" but he still received no response. "You internet guys aren't supposed to be so stoic!" he proclaimed with a half-hearted smile on his face. As the floor counted down the last couple of seconds the cutoff folded his hand face up, the {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.

After the hand was over Heinz told the cutoff he would tell him what he had after play ended tonight. With that pot, Heinz stack was up to an impressive 258,000

Fives Good for RoNasty

From the button, Ronnie Bardah raised to 3,000. The player in the big blind three-bet to 7,300 and Bardah made the call.

The flop came down {6-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} and the big blind fired 9,100. Bardah called in position and the dealer dealt the {2-Clubs} on the turn to pair the board. The big blind checked and Bardah knuckled the table behind.

The river completed the board with the {7-Diamonds} and the big blind checked. Bardah also checked.

The big blind showed the {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} and Bardah beat him with the {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

Value Bet?

Livello 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Sorel Mizzi opened to 2,600 on the button, Greg Vogelsong called in the small blind, and the flop came down {8-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. Vogelsong led for 4,600, and Mizzi called.

The turn was the {5-Spades}, and Vogelsong led again - this time for 11,000. Mizzi again called.

The river was the {10-Hearts}, and Vogelsong tossed out one yellow T1,000 chip, which was less than the minimum bet of 1,200. He tossed out two black T200 chips when asked to, and Mizzi called. Vogelsong opened up {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of kings, Mizzi mucked, and Vogelsong won the pot.

Garrett Doubles Back

Livello 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Brad Garrett
Brad Garrett

The cameras have been lurking near Brad Garrett for a long while now as he's been hovering down in the danger zone with just a few thousand chips. They caught this hand as the comedian and one other player took a {2-Spades} {K-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} flop. Garrett checked from the big blind, and his opponent bet 2,700. Garrett check-raised all in for 8,200 total, and Mr. Opponent made a reluctant call with just {A-Hearts} {7-Spades}. Garrett's {A-Spades} {2-Clubs} had flopped a pair, and the turn {6-Diamonds} and river {J-Hearts} means Garrett has avoided the hook for now.

He's back up to 23,000 as the rebuilding stage begins.

Phillips Runs Into Aces

With the board reading {5-Hearts}{7-Spades}{Q-Spades}{2-Clubs}, Dennis Phillips' opponent moved all in for 17,600 and Phillips went into the tank for over a minute before eventually tossing in a call. Phillips tabled {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} but was far behind his opponent's {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

The dealer rapped the table, burned a card, and flipped over the river, which was the {2-Hearts}, awarding Phillips' opponent a double up. Phillips is now sitting with about 33,000 in chips.

Alexander Gives Big Respect

Jason Alexander
Jason Alexander

Action began with Jason Alexander open-raising for 3,600 from middle position. The cutoff then three-bet to 9,500 and action folded back around to Alexander, who made the call.

The flop came {2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Alexander checked. His opponent counted his stack multiple times before firing 12,300 into the middle.

"Nice hand bro," Alexander said while mucking his hand. "I had to give you big respect."

Alexander chipped up a bit since last we checked, but slid back to 106,000 following the hand.

The Shirt Can Be Washed

Filippo Candio
Filippo Candio

As we reported earlier Filippo Candio lost a huge pot at the break. He was left with 3,400 and after half an orbit he was in the big blind. Carl Pipitone was in middle position and raised to 5,000 to isolate Candio.

Candio tossed the rest of his stack in and was hedging his Main Event on {K-Hearts} {4-Spades}. Pipitone tabled {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} and the board ran {Q-Clubs} {2-Spades} {3-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds}. Pipitone stacked the pot and Candio made his exit.
