"Memphis" Chips Up

Livello 5 : 200/400, 0 ante

Fans of the affable Las Vegas local Tobin Banks would be pleased to know that "Memphis" is now back up to 6,000 in chips after taking a huge chunk of change off an opponent over on Ted Forrest's table.

Banks and three other players came in to a see a flop of {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}; the small blind led out and the big blind called, as did the player in the UTG +1 position before Banks raised from the hijack. Only the small blind and the UTG +1 player called, so it was three-way action to the turn of the {A-Clubs}.

The small blind and UTG +1 player checked, Banks bet again and this time only the small blind called, before he check-called Banks' bet when it was heads-up on the river {10-Clubs}.

Banks showed down {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the flopped straight and the small blind mucked his hands. In a bizarre twist, the small blind player, who is sitting on almost 20,000 in chips, didn't want to be named! However, we can give you a few more that were more than willing, including Sammy Elkassir (19,800) Joe Sebok (20,300) and Daniel Ospina (24,800).

Billirakis Busts One

Livello 5 : 200/400, 0 ante

The action was five-bet by Steve Billirakis and his opponent on a flop of {5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. The {3-Spades} came on the turn and his opponent fired out another bet and Billirakis raised one final time to put his opponent all in. The call was made and the cards were exposed.

Billirakis: {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Billirakis was ahead on the turn and sealed the deal when the {K-Diamonds} hit the river. This hand brings Billirakis up to 12,000 in chips.

Negreanu Going Vogue

Livello 5 : 200/400, 0 ante

Daniel Negreanu was recently moved to a table by the rail and has developed quite a fan base standing around and taking pictures. Negreanu has been standing up and striking various poses for the cameras of spectators while yelling phrases like "Gangsta!", amusing those on the rail and those playing in the tournament alike.

All Quiet on the Western Front

Livello 5 : 200/400, 0 ante

Limit hold'em is one of those games where you're usually hard-pressed to find any action as a reporter. This is indeed the case here in the Pavillion, but we can tell you that a few more big names have showed up.

Tom Dwan, who had just recently busted from Event #5, has now taken his seat on table 29. We've also spotted Ted Forrest and American Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mericer.

We've also been advised by the floor staff that the number of entries and prize pool are being finalized; we'll have those numbers up for you soon.

Cunningham Off to a Slow Start

Allen Cunningham (from Event #3): still in it!
Allen Cunningham (from Event #3): still in it!

Five-time WSOP bracelet winner Allen Cunningham has popped up on table 49, but he's now down to 2,700 in chips after losing a pot to Evan Schwartz.

Cunningham came in with a raise from under the gun before the flop and the action folded around to the player in the hijack position who reraised before Schwartz four-bet from the small blind. Cunningham flat-called, but the hijack capped the action.

Schwartz and Cunningham both called and the dealer produced the flop of {5-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Schwartz checked to Cunningham who bet; the hijack called and Schwartz check-called all-in before Cunningham and the hijack both checked on the turn of the {8-Spades}.

Cunningham then opened on the river {4-Clubs}; the hijack called and showed {J-Spades}{J-Spades}, which was good to take the sidepot off Cunningham. However, Schwartz showed {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} for the bigger overpair and took down the main pot.
