Event #34: $2,500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em
Giorno 2 completo
Day 2 of Event #34: $2,500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em at the 2024 World Series of Poker at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas started with a bang as Koray Aldemir, Josh Arieh, Erik Seidel, Kristen Foxen, and Jesse Lonis made early exits as the field quickly narrowed within the first few hours of play.
Spain's Antonio Galiana not only survived the initial flurry of eliminations but rose to the top of the chip counts and returns for Day 3 with 90 big blinds in his stack. Galiana has already cashed once at the 2024 WSOP, doing so in the $1,000 Mystery Millions. Regardless of where he finishes on Day 3 of this event, he is guaranteed his largest-ever live score.

Josh Reichard was firing on all cylinders at the top of his game today. At one point, Reichard found himself in the tank on the river facing a check-raise from Sean Ragozzini while holding pocket jacks on an ace-high double-paired board. He finally found the call, and Ragozzini turned over queen-deuce for bottom two pair, and Reichard added to his hefty chip stack.
Johan ‘YoH ViraL’ Guilbert took a break from playing at high-stakes cash games to run deep in this event and try to win his first World Series of Poker bracelet. But he faces some stiff competition as the field still has plenty of bracelet winners in Helppi, Romain Lewis, Patrick Leonard, Brett Apter, and Jeremy Ausmus.
During Level 27 the tournament director announced that at the end of the level they would be bagging for the night. Day 3 will begin on June 14 at 12:00 p.m. local time with blinds at 50,000/100,000 with a 100,000 big blind ante. Players will play down to a winner with 15-minute breaks every two levels. The remaining 13 players have bagged for the night and will reconvene Thursday at 12 p.m., local time.
A full recap of Day 2 will post shortly.
Florian Bordet started the hand with 1,070,000 chips and open-shoved from middle position. When action folded to Connor Belcher on the button, he went all in himself. The blinds folded and Bordet was the player at risk.
Florian Bordet: 8♥8♣
Connor Belcher: A♥A♦
The flop of 4♠7♦9♣ gave Bordet a few backdoor straight opportunities in addition to his two outs to a set, but the turn A♠ gave Belcher top set and Bordet was drawing dead. The inconsequential river was the J♥.

Connor Belcher moved all in from the button for his remaining 995,000, and received a call from Joshua Reichard, who was in the small blind.
Reichard’s call put Belcher at risk.
Connor Belcher: K♥Q♠
Joshua Reichard: Q♦10♦
The dealer fanned 5♠8♣10♠ on the board, giving Reichard the lead.
The 6♥ on the turn kept Belcher on the ropes, but the K♣ on the river gave him the win and a double up.

Johan Guilbert limped from late position and Antonio Galiana checked his option from the big blind.
The flop came out 6♥3♣4♥ and Galiana lead out for 95,000. Guilbert called. The turn brought the 4♠ and Galiana bet 285,000 and Guilbert called. The river was the K♣ and when Galiana bet 450,000 Guilbert checked his cards slowly, then stacked some chips he had previously been shuffling on top of his stack, leaving one single 5,000 chip behind, and pushed the stack in. After a few anguished moments Galiana folded and Guilbert took down the pot.

Romain Lewis opened the action from middle position. It folded to Brett Apter in the small blind, who three-bet to 520,000. Lewis thought for a moment and called.
The flop came 8♦4♦10♠. Apter continued for 600,000 and Lewis called.
The turn was the A♦. Apter now checked, and Lewis was the one to bet, he made it 500,000. Apter called.
The river was the K♠. Apter checked, and Lewis checked behind. Apter turned over Q♥Q♣, but Lewis was better with 8♣8♠ for the flopped set. He got to pick up the pot of over 3,000,000 chips.

The hand started off innocently enough, as Johan Guilbert raised in late position to 175,000.
Then, the heat turned on.
Antonio Galiana, who had Guilbert covered, moved all in out of the small blind with his big stack of a little more than 7,000,000.
Action fell on Miguel Use, who used a few moments before moving all in to put himself at risk against Galiana’s stack. Guilbert quickly folded to bring heads-up action.
Miguel Use: A♠K♦
Antonio Galiana: A♥Q♦
Use was ahead before the flop and set himself for a large double up if his hand held, and it looked good for Use after the flop when the dealer fanned 8♠4♠10♦ on the flop.
The Q♣ however, appeared on the turn to give Galiana the lead. He secured the knockout blow of Use when 2x hit the river.
Use finished the tournament in 15th place for $18,705.
