Event #37: $10,000 Big O Championship
Giorno 1 completo
After ten levels of play at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, the 2024 World Series of Poker Event #37: $10,000 Big O Championship has wrapped up for the night with 120 players finding a bag.
With 300 entries on Day 1, the prize pool currently stands at $2,790,000. This figure is expected to grow, as late registration is open until the end of the second level of Day 2, which kicks off at 1 p.m. local time on Friday, June 14.
Some of the biggest names in poker were in the field today, hoping to bag a big stack to bring into tomorrow. However, Hong Kong's Wing Po Liu managed to top the counts with 583,000 chips.
Finishing second on the leaderboard was Dylan Weisman with 447,000 chips. Weisman dropped below the starting stack in the early levels of play, but after that minor blip in the early levels, he seemed to soar up the chip counts and never look back.

All tables have bagged and tagged as Day 1 of the $10,000 Big O Championship has reached its end.
Stay tuned for chip counts and a recap of the day.
Paul Zappulla had three-bet to 13,500 preflop and was called by Kate Hoang and a third player.
On the A♠5♦10♦ flop, Zappulla tossed in his remaining 4,000 chips, after which Hoang raised the pot. The third player folded his cards as a showdown was ordered.
Paul Zappulla: A♦K♠K♥9♦7♠
Kate Hoang: A♥J♣10♥6♦2♦
Hoang's two pair remained best on the 8♣3♠ runout, sending Zappulla out during the final few hands of Day 1.

David Williams and Michael Rocco had arrived on a river of J♠4♣7♠8♦A♣. Williams made a bet of 40,000 into the pot of 54,000, sending Rocco into the tank.
Eventually, he flicked in a call for Williams to table K♠8♥7♥6♦2♠ for a seven-low and two pair. Rocco opened A♥J♥9♥6♣2♣ for the same low, but he had a higher two pair and was thus granted the majority of the pot.

On a flop of 9♦6♠9♣ Rishi Amin bet 5,500 from the big blind before the player under the gun raised to 21,000. After the small blind folded Amin made the call.
The 3♦ turn got checked through for the 7♦ to come on the river. Amin checked again, and after some thought, the under the gun player bet 40,000. Amin quickly folded and his opponent was kind enough to show A♠6♦6♣ for a flopped full house as he pulled in the pot late in the day

Matthew Bretzfield: 8♣7♣6♥5♠3♠
John Bunch: A♣10♣4♦3♣2♠
Bunch was the only one who paired their hole cards on the Q♥9♥Q♣9♠2♣ board, meaning that Bretzfield was sent home with less than half an hour to play on Day 1.
