Giorno 1 completo
Event #85: $1,000 Flip & Go No-Limit Hold'em Presented by GGPoker is one of the most unique tournaments on the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) schedule. This year's event saw 1,088 entrants at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, with only 136 progressing from the flip stage.
The "Flip" part of this event saw players enter single-table Flip & Go's, with the format being a crazy pineapple style of no-limit hold'em. Players received three cards, discarded one after the flop, and were all in until a winner was determined on each table. Those winners progressed to Day 2, where the "Go" stage sees the event continue as a traditional no-limit hold'em tournament.
The 1,088-strong crowd was an increase of 66 entrants from last year, resulting in a $957,440 prize pool. All 136 Day 2 players have locked in a min-cash, with the WSOP to confirm the official payouts at the start of Day 2.
Everyone through to Day 2 sits down with 160,000 chips, or 80 big blinds. Among the returning players are a whole host of stellar names, including 16 players picked for $25K Fantasy Draft.
Chance Kornuth, Yuval Bronshtein, Renan Bruschi, Patrick Leonard, and Scott Seiver are just a handful of names safely through. Although he's not posted on his X channel, it is safe to assume Seiver spent less than the 43 buy-ins he fired in 2022!
Chris Brewer, Shannon Shorr, Andrew Kelsall, Punnat Punsri, party throwing expert Chris Hunichen, Toby Lewis, and David Williams join the other $25K Fantasy Draft picks, as do Michael Moncek, Shaun Deeb, Georgios Sotiropoulos, and six-time bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus.
You can find a full list of chip counts and the seat draw on this event's live reporting pages.
Day 2 starts at 11 a.m. local time on July 9. The plan is to play down to a winner, with players enjoying a 15-minute break every four levels, which last 30 minutes. A dinner break is planned, but the time is yet to be decided.
Join PokerNews on July 9 for Day 2 of the $1,000 Flip & Go.
Blinds on Day 2 start at 1,000/2,000 with a 2,000 big blind ante. Everyone sits down with 80 big blinds.

In the 844th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway and Mike Holtz are joined at Level 9 Studio by commentator and comedian Joe "Stapes" Stapleton, who served as special co-host to talk about the latest happenings at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP).
That includes the 2024 WSOP Main Event kicking off and not one, but two players busting in the very first hand of Day 1a. Find out how it happened in this episode and how both Chad and Kyna England fared when they played. There's also an 'In Memorium' segment remembering those who fell during Day 1a action, who thinks Mike gives the best massages, and a look at the recently-announced Poker Hall of Fame nominees. Who does the panel think should get in and why? You'll hear all about it here.
Finally, Stapes talks about his upcoming comedy show in Las Vegas, David Eldridge gives an interview after winning the $25K PLO High Roller bracelet, and Nick Petrangelo won Wynn Summer Classic Championship for $2,221,775. Check out all of those stories and more in the latest episode of the PokerNews Podcast!

Another year, another record with the 2024 WSOP Main Event having surpassed last year's figure of 10,043.
The official figure is as yet unconfirmed, but the WSOP has announced that the record was broken shortly after 3 p.m. local time midway through the second level of Day 1d.
The prize pool is also yet to be announced, but it's widely expected to be a figure similar to the $12,100,000 that Daniel Weinman won twelve months ago.
Late registration remains open until approximately 5:10 p.m. ET. The WSOP is reminding players who wish to max late register the Main Event that they need to be registered and IN LINE at the Late Registration desk by the start of Level 8.
Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 11th episode, Connor speaks with Dan "Jungleman" Cates about accountability in poker, his notorious heads-up challenge with Tom Dwan, Game of Gold, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, mindfulness in poker and his new podcast Winning the Game of Life.
Cates also talked about his iconic Poker Players Championship outfits and a six-figure downswing he experienced at Bellagio during the summer.
This interview was filmed at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) inside Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.
