Day 1a of Event #2 here at the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe is in the books. The €1,090 No-Limit Hold'em event attracted 381 players for its first starting flight and is on pace to smash the record of 608 entries that the largest-ever WSOP Europe event received. There are 54 players remaining and Australian Andrew Hinrichsen is leading the way with 63,900 in chips.

Plenty of notable players were in the mix today, but not all of them could advance to Day 2 on Monday. Mike Leah, Jean-Robert Bellande, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Phil Collins, Jason Mercier, Erik Seidel, Barry Greenstein and Nacho Barbero were a handful of names to hit the rail on the day.

Of those moving on to the second day of play, we have Toby Lewis, Randy Dorfman, McLean Karr, Farzad Bonyadi, Richard Toth, Erik Cajelais, Eoghan O'Dea, Matt Waxman and Dan Shak. They'll all be part of the group that joins up with the remaining players from tomorrow's field to continue with Day 2.

Day 2 will begin on Monday at 2:00 PM local time. Tomorrow's Day 1b flight kicks off play at 12:00 noon and they'll play the same amount of time as was played today; nine levels.

PokerNews will be on hand for all of the action and you won't want to miss any of it, so tune right back in here for all the coverage.

More for Hinrichsen

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

Action folded to Andrew Hinrichsen in the cutoff seat and he raised to 1,300. The small blind made the call and the flop came down {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}. The small blind checked and Hinrichsen bet 1,300. The small blind made the call.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and Hinrichsen fired another bet after his opponent checked. He made it 3,300 to go. His opponent decided better of it and tossed his hand into the muck.

Andrew Hinrichsen had bet 8,500 on the board of {J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}. His opponent tanked and went back and forth for a little bit. Then finally, the player raised all in for 13,075. Hinrichsen called the extra bit more and his opponent showed the {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} for a pair of jacks. Hinrichsen tabled the {9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} for two pair and won the pot.

After the hand, the player proceeded to yell at Hinrichsen in French. We couldn't make out what he was saying, but Hinrichsen commented, "You must be doing something right when you're berated in French twice."
