Day 1b of Event #2: €1,090 No-Limit Hold'em at the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe has come to a close. After nine levels of play, 50 players remain. Leading the pack at the end of the day was Yannick Autaa with 60,000 in chips. Trailing him is Eric Baudry with 58,300.

A field of 390 players came out to action today. Adding that number to the 381 players that came out on Saturday for Day 1a gives this event a grand total of 771 entrants. What does that number mean? It means this event has become the largest in WSOP Europe history. It smashed the record previously held by the 2009 £1,000 event that was won by JP Kelly and had 608 entrants.

There were plenty of notables in action on Day 1b. Some of those who were eliminated included James Bord, Bryan Devonshire, Ana Marquez, Sam Trickett, Tristan Wade, Dennis Phillips, Bryn Kenney, Jeff Lisandro, Carlos Mortensen, Michael Mizrachi and Vanessa Rousso.

On the other side of things, Tyler Kenney, John Eames, Peter Jetten, Vanessa Selbst, Kevin MacPhee and Roberto Romanello are all moving on to Day 2.

Coming into Day 2, Australian Andrew Hinrichsen will be the front runner after bagging up 63,900 in chips on Day 1a. Day 2 will begin Monday at 1400 CET (0500 PDT).

From the under-the-gun-plus-one position, Peter Jetten raised to 1,400. Action then folded to Kevin MacPhee in the hijack seat and he reraised to 3,825. Play folded back to Jetten and he tanked for a bit. He eventually mucked his hand and MacPhee scooped this one.

Eames Spikes a Double

John Eames just found a double up, but he had to do it the hard way. He had to crack aces.

Action folded to Kimi Heiskanen in the hijack seat and he raised to 1,250. Play moved to Eames in the big blind and he reraised all in for 9,450. Heiskanen quickly called with the {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. Eames held the {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs}.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and put Eames in front. He held from there as the turn brought the {8-Hearts} and river the {4-Spades}.

Sly Picks One Up

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

From the hijack seat, Eric Baudry raised to 1,300. Christopher Sly called from the button and Richard Haile called out of the small blind. The flop came down {Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and action checked to Baudry. He bet 1,800. Sly put in a raise to 4,150 and Haile folded. Baudry gave it a minute of thought and then folded as well, giving this one to Sly.
