Record Breaking Numbers Expected for High Roller Day 2 at EPT Paris

Robin Ylitalo
Robin Ylitalo

A star-studded field is set to reconvene here at Le Palais des Congrès for Day 2 of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris €10,300 Super High Roller. A record-breaking field of 459 entries has generated a €4,406,400 prize pool which will undoubtedly swell further, with registration open until the start of Day 2.

British pro Scott Margereson (377,000), looking to land his maiden EPT title, leads the way of the 192 players who navigated their way to Day 2 after ten 60-minute levels, closely followed by Sho Homma (362,000) and 2013 EPT London Main Event winner Robin Ylitalo (344,000).

Scott Margereson

The home nation is well represented with Frenchmen Kalidou Sow (323,000), Romain Lewis (268,500) and Julien Sitbon (267,500) all finding top-ten stacks. No doubt they would all love to be lifting an EPT High Roller title on home soil.

The Day 1 entry list was a who’s who of some of the best and most notable players in the world, with the likes of Bert Stevens (310,500), Simon Mattsson (214,500), Nate Silver (125,000), Jack Sinclair (84,000), Timothy Adams (52,500) and reigning EPT Prague champion Padraig O’Neill (50,000) all making their way to Day 2.

There were plenty of world-class players who were not so fortunate. Despite making an incredible hero call to knock out Fabian Bernhauser, Sergi Reixach ultimately fell short. Leon Sturm ran his ace-king into Michael Jozoff’s queens in a button versus big blind spot and didn’t get there, and Armin Rezaei's queens were rivered in a huge pot against Brandon Leetz in one of the last hands of the day.

Day 2 is set to begin today, February 24 at noon local time, with play concluding at the end of level 21 after ten 60-minute levels. Action resumes at Level 11, which features 1,000/1,500 blinds with a 1,500 big blind ante. Day 3 will take place on Monday, February 25 at noon local time.

Any players registering up to the start of Day 2 will receive a 50,000 starting stack, good for 33 big blinds, and it is expected plenty will take advantage of the opportunity to take a shot at the title and the record-breaking prize pool.

Make sure to join PokerNews for all your coverage of what is certain to be an enthralling day of battles between some of the world’s best poker minds.

With about 10,000 in the middle, Lewis Spencer had checked and was faced with a bet of 3,500 from Pablo Silva on the J72 flop. Eventually, he made the call.

The 2 fell on the turn, and once Spencer checked, Silva continued for 19,000. Spencer called once again.

The 3 completed the board, and once checked to, Silva dropped as stack of blue chips across the line for a bet of 50,000. Spencer went into the tank, and decided on a call after using a time bank.

Silva tabled QQ, and Spencer mucked his hand.
