Mike Watson shoved from the small blind for 1,350,000 and Erik Seidel made the call from the big blind with the chip lead.

The flop came 6♠J♥9♠ for Watson to be ahead with the pocket rockets but Seidel picked up the flush draw.

The turn was the 6♥ which didn't change things much but the 2♠ on the river gave Seidel the flush to get the tournament down to the unofficial final table of nine. Watson finished in tenth place for $130,900.

Executive Director Ty Stewart was flanked by a half dozen former Main Event champions – Daniel Weinman, Espen Jorstad, Koray Aldemir, Jamie Gold, Damian Salas, and Ryan Riess – to officially get things underway in the flagship tournament.
