Game Time

Livello 2 : 125/250, 0 ante

We just went over to check on how much time was in the level, and apparently there's 27 seconds left in the second period. And Boston is up 4-0. Our bright yellow time clock has been tuned to the NHL playoff game, and there are at least a couple fans and bet-sweaters craning their necks, spending more time watching the action on the ice than on the felt.

Fashionably Late

Livello 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

There are a few notables who've trickled in since the break. Chau Giang, Daniel Negreanu, Michael Binger, Freddy Deeb and Eli Elezra have all found their seats in the Yellow Section of the Pavillion Room.

Still no sign of reigning champion Sammy Farha, but there are still two more hours of late registration.

Seven Times for Failla

Livello 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Under the gun, Will Failla opened the pot with a raise, and only the big blind, Alessio Isaia, called to see a flop.

It came {2-Spades} {K-Clubs} {3-Clubs}, and Failla put out his continuation bet. Isaia check-raised, and Failla called the extra bet there, and a bet apiece on the {7-Diamonds} turn and {K-Spades} river.

Isaia tabled {A-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}, and he'd get the low half with the nut low. Failla's {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} {3-Spades} {8-Hearts} was good for the top half, but "The Thrill" was less than thrilled. "Seven times!" he pointed his finger down at the two aces on the felt. "Seven times today, and I have no chips."

Failla does have 19,000 left from his starting stack of 30,000, but he and his aces are a bit grumpy right now.

A Quarter for Selbst

Livello 3 : 150/300, 0 ante
Barry Greenstein caught in a rare smile!
Barry Greenstein caught in a rare smile!

There were several bets already stacked in the pot when we watched the turn card fall on a {7-Spades} {2-Clubs} {10-Spades} {6-Diamonds} board. Heads up, Vanessa Selbst check-raised Barry Greenstein, and "Bear" threw in the extra bet to see the {J-Spades} river. Selbst bet again, and Greenstein called.

Showdown
Selbst: {A-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {8-Diamonds}
Greenstein: {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}

Greenstein's pair of kings earned him the high half, and Selbst had to settle for just a quarter of the pot as she and Bear chopped up the low half. The lady is down to 26,000, while Greenstein improves to about 40,500 with that nice pot.

One-Seventy-One

Livello 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

That's the number on the big board as 171 players have taken their seats so far. With last year's event setting the bar high at 212 runners, we're going to need some help in the next two hours to set another record. We'd expect to move ahead of the 2009 total of 179, though.

Crazy Side-Bets

Livello 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Marco "CrazyMarco" Johnson and a gentleman named Crazy Mike just booked a last longer for the event. We missed the specifics, but we did catch the details on another side-bet between Mike and Michael Binger.

"You have to lay me odds," Crazy Mike pleaded.

"1.1 to 1," Binger offered.

"1.2 to 1," Crazy Mike responded.

"Booked," said Binger.

Moments later.

"This is a must-cash bet, right?" Crazy Mike shouted from an adjacent table.

"No..." Binger answered.

Crazy Mike did his best to get out of the bet, but Binger wouldn't budge. The bet is on.

Chainsaw Warming Up

Livello 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Andrew Brown started the action with a raise from the hijack seat. An opponent in the cutoff seat called, and so too did Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler on the button and Jean-Robert Bellande from the big blind. The dealer flopped {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. Bellande checked, Brown tossed out a bet, the player in the cutoff seat called, and Kessler made it two bets. The action folded back to to the player in the cutoff seat who called.

The turn was the {3-Spades}, Kessler's opponent check-folded to a bet, and the pot was shipped to Chainsaw, who now has 26,300 chips.
