After an action packed Day 1 to the only Triple Chance Tournament in the series this year, we were left with just 157 players left fighting for the bracelet. Among those still competing are Andy Black, Isaac Haxton, Justin Smith, Ted Forrest, Kathy Liebert and Andy Frankenberger. One table in particular, number 366, should be especially entertaining. Carlos Mortensen and Sam Trickett will be sitting next to each other with David Sklansky only a couple of seats down from them.
There are a few players already over the 100,000 mark. The stacks of J.C. Tran, Jonathan "Monster_Dong" Karamilikis, and Bradley McFarland have all hit six figures but none were able to capture the chip lead. They are all chasing Peter Hernandez who has a whopping 124,700 chips! To put it into perspective, the average chip stack won't surpass that number until we get down to less than 50 players!
Another thing to keep an eye on early is that we are just 13 eliminations away from the money. Some players will be trying to cash while others take advantage of the bubble and attack the short stacks. The excitement and heartbreak the WSOP is so well known for is sure to happen early, late and all day in between. You won't want to miss any of the action when play resumes in about 15 minutes at 2:30 pm local time so stay close to PokerNews for all your updates!

Corey Hastings moved in with his short stack and Andy Black called from the button. Hastings held and Black tabled .
Board:
Hastings is up over 14,000.
Catching the action on the flop, Marios Savvides moved all in for his final 20,000. John May thought for a minute or two before deciding to call. Savvides slammed over his and was ahead of the holdings of May.
Savvides put his forehead on the table and covered his face with his arms so that he couldn't see the turn and river. Although it came a harmless and , Shane Sigsbee decided to have some fun and let out an "Ohhhh!!!!" on the river. Dean Hamrick joined along with a sigh of his own. Savvides lifted his head thinking he had lost the pot, only to smile and give Sigsbee a playful shove as he raked in the chips.
Savvides now sits with 50,000 while May has been crippled to 10,000.
We missed the action on the hand but we saw Kathy Liebert collecting her things and leaving the tournament area. From what we gathered Liebert lost a race holding against Justin Pechie's pocket tens.
The day started with lots of aggression at table 361, as we caught up with Daniel Ivers pushing all in preflop, only to have Gevork Kasabyan immediately shove all in over the top. The rest of the table folded and the two tabled their cards:
Kasabyan:
Ivers:
The board fell and Ivers doubled up to around 13,000. This hand knocked knocked Kasabyan down to around 8,000 and left him in all-in mode.
A couple of hands later, the intense action continued, as Kasabyan decided once again to risk his tournament life preflop by shoving all in for his last 8,000. Eric Ladny called but was surprised to find David Gutfreund push all in over the top for 9,500 more. Although he didn't seem happy about it, Ladny eventually announced call.
Ladny:
Kasabyan:
Gutfreund:
The board ran out and the jacks of Gutfreund held up, allowing him to triple up and bust Kasabyan in the process.
Mikhail Lakhitov and Jerry Wong built a pot north of 10,000 by the turn. The board read and Lakhitov check-called 2,800 to see the river . Lakhitov took a moment and then bet 7,800 and Wong called. Lakhitov showed for the straight and Wong mucked.
Kenneth Martin opened the action from early position with a raise to 3,000. Caio Cesar Pimenta flatted from the button and Pascal LeFrancois also called from the big blind.
The flop came and the first two players checked to Pimenta who fired 4,300. LeFrancois folded and Martin asked Pimenta for a full count of his stack. "About 30 behind," Pimenta responded, referring to having 30,000 chips.
"Ok, I'm all in," Martin told him. Martin had him slightly covered and Pimenta squirmed in his seat for a few minutes before announcing a call. Martin flipped over and was ahead of Pimenta's for our second such situation of the day. The turn was the and the river was the . Although both players boated up, it would be Martin busting Pimenta just before the bubble to chip him up to 75,000.
