Peppe's Two Pair Goes Down

Livello 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Nichoel Peppe and Martins Adeniya went to the flop of {5-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} and Peppe bet out 3,000. Adeniya made it 7,500 and Peppe called. The turn came {Q-Diamonds}, Peppe checked, Adeniya bet 13,500 and Peppe shoved. The call was made and the hands were tabled.

Peppe: {Q-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}
Adeniya: {A-Hearts} {5-Clubs}

Peppe needed a queen on the river to take the hand, but the river came {A-Spades} and Peppe's day was done. Adeniya is up over 100,000.

Break Time!

Livello 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The players are now on their first 20-minute break of the day. When they return play will resume with 800-1,600 blinds and a 200 ante.

We Told Ya So

Livello 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

In the introduction post for Day 2, we told you we would keep an eye on Table 366 because it started with the legend Carlos Mortensen sitting to the direct left of up and comer Sam Trickett. Sadly, David Sklansky exited from this table early, but Mortensen and Trickett have provided all the chip moving action we hoped for in just the first two levels. At one point, Mortensen had a top five stack and looked to be playing comfortably and with confidence.

However, as Mortensen has been falling, Trickett is stepping up and stealing the show. At one point, he was down to under ten big blinds but recently found a nice rush and now sits atop our leaderboard with 169,000. Mortensen has just 33,000 but you never know what he can pull from his sleeve.

Karamalikis Getting Some Back

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jonathan Karamalikis Chipping Back Up
Jonathan Karamalikis Chipping Back Up

From under the gun, Eric Guth raised to 3,600. Jonathan Karamalikis, next to act, made it 8,700. It folded back around to Guth who asked Karamalikis for a count of his chips. He got his answer, about 35,000 more, and decided to make the call.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs}. Both players thought for about a minute before checking. The turn was the {5-Hearts} and again both players checked, this time a little bit faster. When the river came the {J-Hearts} both players had checked within a few seconds and both hands were turned up.

Karamalikis: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Guth: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Guth never bet his flush draw, missed, and Karamalikis' King plays. This got him up to 55,000, still less than half of what he started with. Guth still has a strong stack with 68,000.

Mortensen Rebuilding

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Although it is unknown how and when the money went in, Carlos Mortensen was able to knock Mihai Manole out with his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} versus the {8-}{8-} of his Manole. The board was {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Mortensen had him covered by just a little bit.

Mortensen, who earlier in the day was on of our chip leaders, is now back to 72,000.

Pimlott with Jacks Works Twice

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Bryan Pimlott was able to get Eric Ladny to call off his stack on an {8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} board holding just {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. Pimlott was in command with {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} and stayed ahead through the {6-Hearts} and {10-Clubs} turn-river.

Just a couple of hands later, the player in the hijack moved in for about 30,000. Pimlott, who had just finished stacking his new found chips, called on the button before the blinds folded. Again Pimlott had {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} versus the {A-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} of his opponent. Right in the door card Pimlott all but sealed the deal when the {J-Hearts} was shown. The rest of the board ran out {5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Pimlott now has 175,000 chips!

Trickett Avoids Showdown with Shaffer

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Brett Shaffer opened from middle position with a raise to 4,200. Trickett called from the button and the two played the hand heads up.

When the flop fell {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Shaffer thought for a minute and continued with 6,700. Trickett also took his time in making the call.

The turn was the {J-Hearts} and after another minute or two we had checks by both players.

The river paired the board with the {4-Spades}. It seemed unclear to some players and even the dealer but Shaffer had checked and Trickett moved all in. After about five minutes of no one wanting to break the silence, the action was figured out and Shaffer finally let go of his hand.

All told, the hand took about ten minutes. Trickett didn't seem to mind though. He mounted the chips into his chip-leading 188,000 stack.
