Vanessa Selbst Relying on Pure Aggression

Livello 1 : 200/300, 0 ante

In her heads-up match against Chris Moorman, Vanessa Selbst is employing her usual strategy of unrelenting aggression to take control. On a board of {J-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}, Selbst checkraised Moorman and committed her entire stack, forcing Moorman to think deeply before eventually mucking his hand. Selbst grinned wryly while stacking her chips and said "that was an interesting board," prompting a shake of the head by Moorman, who was clearly flummoxed by Selbst's unorthodox style.

Antonius Grabs a Nice Pot

Livello 1 : 200/300, 0 ante

We caught up on a match between Patrik Antonius and Eric Froehlich on a board of {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a pot of over 8,000. Antonius checked to Froehlich who also checked the river, but both were reluctant to be the first to turn up their cards. The floor was called and Antonius flipped up {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts} which was enough to make Froehlich muck his cards and scoop the pot.

Busquet Takes The Lead

Livello 1 : 200/300, 0 ante

With the flop reading {2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, Huck Seed check-called a 600 bet from Olivier Busquet. Seed again check-called a 800 bet from Busquet on the {K-Spades} turn. The {2-Diamonds} fell on the river and a third check from Seed prompted a nearly pot-sized bet of 4600 from Busquet. Seed fell into the tank before eventually folding to Busquet's pressure. Huck stands around 15,000 to Busquet's 35,000.

The Match of the Match

Livello 1 : 200/300, 0 ante

We know which table we're going to be watching the closest this round. All right, well there are a lot of great match-ups this evening, but the one featuring Dan "Jungleman12" Cates and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier should be a good (and quick) one. Across the table from them, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Toby Lewis are tangled up in a very quiet duel, and we'd expect both the first and second round matches there to be must-see.

Mercier Pushing Chips

Livello 1 : 200/300, 0 ante

The Jason Mercier vs. Gus Hansen match is going full speed ahead, and it's Mercier pulling out to the early lead. We walked up to a hand in progress with the board showing {J-Spades} {9-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {5-Hearts}. Hansen had checked, and Mercier moved all in for his first stack of chips with about 10,200 already in the pot. It was an overbet, and Hansen had about 12,000 chips left as he pondered. He eventually decided to pass, and Mercier stacked up to take about a three-to-one lead in first-bullet chips. Both men still have their two add-on tokens left.

Selbst Wins a Big Pot With Big Slick

Livello 1 : 200/300, 0 ante

We caught up with the action with the board reading {7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and the pot containing 1,500 chips. Selbst was on the button and bet 1,800, which was called by Chris Moorman. The {6-Spades} fell on the river and Selbst fired out a bet of 4,200. Moorman tanked for nearly two minutes before making the call, but quickly mucked when Selbst tabled the {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} for top pair, top kicker. Selbst appears to have her opponent on the ropes and Moorman's chipstack is quickly dwindling.

A Note About the Chips

Livello 1 : 200/300, 0 ante

This is an interesting format for a heads-up match, and we think you'll probably want to know about it. We're listing the players with 75,000 starting chips, but that stack is broken up into three chances. Most of the players are starting with the base 25,000 and electing to save their two, clear buttons for the additional add-ons.

In fact, the only player we've seen take their full 75,000 chips up front is Lex Veldhuis.

Three-bet, Four-bet, Five-bet....

Livello 1 : 200/300, 0 ante

Luke Schwartz raised Nick Schulman's big blind to 1k, to which Schulman responded by three-betting to 3,100. Schwartz thought it over before four-betting to 7,000. Schulman deliberated briefly before five-betting to 22,500, which landed a snap fold from Scwhartz, who has dropped down to approximately 70,000.
