Marafioti Over Maxim

Livello 10 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Matt Marafioti and Maxim Lykov found themselves all-in preflop with Marafioti holding {10-}{10-} and Lykov holding {8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. The Russian was far behind Marafioti's pair of tens, and a final board of {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{K-Spades} offered no help, eliminating Lykov and sending Marafioti on the next round of competition. All players who reach the Round of 16 have earned themselves a payday of at least $67,436.

Guetti's Goes Runner-Runner to Pull Even With Benyamine

Livello 10 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Anthony Guetti pushed all-in preflop and after squeezing his cards slowly, David Benyamine made the call, flipping over {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. Guetti showed the {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and the players were off to the races. A flop of {K-Clubs}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts} seemed to be a great development for Benyamine, as he made top pair/top kicker. The Frenchman grimaced aloud when the turn brought the {Q-Diamonds}, a card which gave Guetti an open ended straight draw and 7 additional outs. The {A-Clubs} on the river was one of those outs, and Guetti's runner-runner Broadway straight gave him a pot in excess of 250,000 chips. Benyamine had yet to utilize his last 100,000 add-on however, so these two could be in for a lengthy duel.

Livello 10 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Daniel Alaei and Gus Hansen had a seesaw battle much of the afternoon. Hansen was low early, but worked his way back to a small chip advantage. Three times in a row Alaei moved all in preflop and twice Hansen didn't call. But the the third time Aleai was on the button and shoved for 236,000.

Hansen called and tabled {K-Hearts} {6-Hearts} and Alaei held {J-Hearts} {8-Spades}. The board ran {4-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {K-Spades} and Alaei's day was done.

Chop Only Delays the Inevitable, Kojo Downs Schulman

Livello 10 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

With both players all-in before the flop, Kunimaro Kojo held {Q-}{10-} and Nick Schulman tabled {Q-}{4-}. The final board read {J-}{4-}{9-}{8-}{10-} and both players stood, with Schulman offering a "nice hand sir". The dealer was ready to push the pot to Kojo when Schulman realized that they both held the same straight, and after some study of the board, the chips were split and the players resumed the match.

On the very next deal, however, the players were all-in again before the flop. Kojo held {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Schulman flipped up the {6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. The dealer ran a final board of {3-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Kojo finally earned the victory.
