Aken-Heads-Up

Livello 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
James Akenhead During Early Stages of Play
James Akenhead During Early Stages of Play

In a confrontation during three-handed play, Yevgeniy Timoshenko moved all in preflop for about 37,000 only to be called by the {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} of James Akenhead. Timoshenko let out an enormous sigh and flipped up {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Timoshenko was eliminated, giving Akenhead about a 4.5 to 1 chip advantage going into heads up play at his table.

Heads-up play didn't last too long though, as Akenhead got it all in against his opponent preflop after about five minutes of play.

Akenhead: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Opponent: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The board fell {Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and James Akenhead officially became the first player to advance to the next round.

Frankenberger Doubles Through Pilgrim

Dwyte Pilgrim opened for 1,100 from early position and a player on the button called. A short-stacked Andrew Frankenberger went all-in from the small blind for about 7,500 and Dwyte re-shoved his stack. The button caller folded.

Dwyte: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Frankenberger: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

The board came {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{Q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, which was good for the double for Frankenberger.

Tom Marchese opened to 850 from under the gun and both Josh Brikis and Jason DeWitt made the call to see a {6-Spades}{A-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop fall.

Marchese continued for 1,450 as Brikis made the call before DeWitt check-raised from the big blind to 5,700. Marchese folded, but Brikis made the call as the {K-Hearts} landed on the turn and DeWitt fired out 9,600.

Brikis responded by moving all in for an additional 23,075, and after seven minutes contemplating, DeWitt made the call for his final 18,150.

Brikis: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}
DeWitt: {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

With DeWitt in the lead, the {2-Clubs} on the river wouldn't change anything as he moved to 71,000 while Brikis was left with just under 5,000 in chips.

Livello 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

On a flop of {Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, Maxim Lykov managed to get his entire stack in the middle holding {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}. His opponent made the call of his all in holding {7-Spades}{6-Clubs} for an open-ended straight draw.

The turn came {6-Hearts} and the river {A-Diamonds}, doubling Lykov up and effectively giving him command of his four-handed table with around 70,000 in chips

Vedes Doubles

Livello 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Tommy Vedes has just found a double after getting his money in on a {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop.

Vedes: {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

Fortunately for Vedes, he spiked the {9-Clubs} on the turn to improve his hand to trips, and when the {K-Spades} landed on the river, he doubled through to roughly 50,000 in chips.
