Event #24: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout
Giorno 1 iniziato
Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino for another exciting day of poker action as we prepare for Event #24: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout! The first shootout event of the series (Event #13: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout) saw 1,440 players register, with American Andrew Badecker claiming the first-place prize.
Today's shootout event has a $5,000 entry-fee, which we expect it will draw plenty of big names and notable poker pros to the field. Last year we saw many big poker names make a deep run in this event - including Neil Channing (2nd), Blair Hinkle (12th), Chino Reem (13th), John Duthie (16th), Dario Minieri (22nd) and Justin Smith (28th), just to name a few.
The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will provide extensive live coverage from 12:00 p.m. PDT. Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews.com as we see players battle throughout the day in Event #24.

From middle position, a player raised to 250 total. Daniel Negreanu made it 675 from the button only to be four-bet to 1,725 by his opponent. Negreanu wouldn't be that easily pushed off his hand though, as he made it 3,325 to go, which his opponent called.
Strangely enough, the two checked the entire board down as it ran out
Negreanu's opponent flipped up for a pair of jacks, but was defeated by the two pair Negreanu made on the turn and river as he tabled . Negreanu is now up to about 20,300.
Blair Hinkle made it 225 to go and was called by one player in the hijack. Annette Obrestad made it 850 to go and was called by both players. The flop came and the action was checked to Obrestad who fired out 1,400. Both players folded and Obrestad was able to scoop the pot and boosted her stack to around 19,000.
