Alaei Hit the Rail After Missing Royal-Flush Draw

A player in the cutoff raised and Daniel Alaei, who was in the small blind, decided to commit his stack of 4,300. The cutoff made the call and Alaei soon discovered that he was ahead.

Cutoff: {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Alaei: {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

While Alaei was looking good preflop, the {J-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} flop quickly changed that, flopping his opponent two pair; however, Alaei did have a royal-flush draw. The {7-Clubs} turn was no help, leaving Alaei drawing to a ten or diamond on the river. The dealer burned and slowly revealed the {K-Spades}. It was no help to Alaei and he was eliminated from the $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship.

Tryba's Crocodile Tears

Action folded to Chris Tryba in the cutoff and a series of raises saw him get his 6,700 short stack in the pot against the players in the blinds, who checked it down as the board ran out {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Before the river, Tryba was calling out, "Three!"

Unfortunately for him, it didn't hit and he mucked his hand after seeing Marwan Abdelal's {9-Diamonds}{9c in the big blind. Tryba collected his things and gave us a faux cry before making his way to the rail, no doubt on his way to another tournament,

Meanwhile, Ray Henson was unable to get anything going here in Day 2 and was also eliminated from the tournament.

Brodie Makes Nice Call

Livello 10 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Joe Cassidy raised from the button, and Richard Brodie put in three bets in the small blind. Cassidy called, and the two saw a flop of {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Brodie bet and Cassidy put out a raise. Brodie called, and the turn came the {q-Clubs}. Brodie checked, and Cassidy fired out again. Brodie called again, and the river came the {3-Spades}. Brodie checked, and Cassidy fired a third bullet. Brodie thought for about 20 seconds before flinging in the call. Cassidy tapped the table, indicating nice call, and Brodie showed {a-Clubs}{j-Spades} for ace high. Cassidy threw his cards into the muck, and dropped to 11,000, while Brodie jumped up to 60,000.

Chen Doubles Through Elias

We caught up with the action on a {K-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop between Bill Chen in the small blind and Darren Elias in the hijack. Chen led out, Elias raised and Chen called all in. Elias turned over {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for an inside straight draw and Chen was looking good for the double up with {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. The turn was the {10-Hearts} which gave Chen a flush draw and took away a few outs from Elias. The river was a clean {Q-Clubs} for Chen as he doubled up.

Baldwin and Barbero Gone

We didn't catch the hand, but we heard the dealer yell, "Seat open on 275." When we looked up, Eric "basebaldy" Baldwin was collecting his things and making his way to the exit, courtesy of Maya Geller.

Likewise, Nacho Barbero was eliminated after running his {2-}{2-} into the {Q-}{Q-} of Matt Hawrilenko. Needless to say, the deuces didn't get there and Barbero followed Baldwin out the door.

Little Finds Little Double Up

Livello 10 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Jonathan Little had been whittled down to just about 6,000 but he just found a quick and painless double up through Tom McCormick. The two players got all the money in on the turn with the board showing {3-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. McCormick showed {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}, but Little had {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a turned boat that left McCormick drawing dead. Little jumped up to 12,000 after the pot, while McCormick is now on life support with around 2,100.

One for Negreanu

Just before the level up, Ian Johns raised from the button and was three-bet by Daniel Negreanu in the big blind. Johns put in the chips and then proceeded to call bets on the {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop and {A-Diamonds} turn. Negreanu kept the pressure on by betting the {Q-Clubs} river, but this time Johns refused to put in the chip, giving up on the hand.

The Smirnov Show

First Tom McCormick raised from the hijack and Mikhail Smirnov three-bet from the cutoff. Eric Baldwin made it four bets from the small blind and the other two players called. On the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop, Baldwin check-called Smirnov as McCormick folded and stormed off to hallway. Baldwin check-called again when the {4-Clubs} hit the turn and both players checked the {5-Hearts} on the river. Baldwin showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for ace-high while Smirnov’s {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} was good for the pot.

Then the next hand, Maya Geller raised from middle position and Smirnov three-bet again as the next to act. Geller made the call and check-called on the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop but check-folded on the {7-Clubs} turn.

Finally on a {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, Smirnov check-called a Baldwin bet. Smirnov checked blind before the {5-Diamonds} came off on the turn and Baldwin checked behind. Smirnov led out on the {J-Clubs} river which got Baldwin to fold as Smirnov took down three consecutive pots to build his already large stack.

Titans Battle

Steve Landfish raised in early position and received four callers in Erik Cajelais, Pat Pezzin, Tom Dwan, and Jennifer Harman. Dwan, who was in the small blind, checked the {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop and Harman bet from the big. Landfish put in a raise, Cajelais called, and Pezzin got out of the way; however, the action didn't stop there. Dwan made the call, Harman three-bet, Landfish folded, and both Cajelais and Dwan called.

Dwan immediately checked the {9-Spades} turn, Harman bet, Cajelais called, and Dwan check-called. Action then checked to Cajelais on the {5-Spades} river, which he bet. Only Dwan called, but quickly mucked after Cajelais revealed {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for the nut flush.
