Table of Eternal Doom

Livello 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

We've all heard of the typical "table of death", but table #73 has brought a new definition to the term table of death. It currently has Brandon Adams, Amnon Filippi, Layne Flack, JC Tran, and Brian Hastings filling five of the six seats. There is still an empty seat, and we do not envy the person who has that unlucky draw.

DO NOT LATE REGISTER FOR THIS TOURNAMENT....

....unless you want horribly tough table draws. We already mentioned the table of eternal doom, and there is another one right next to it that isn't much better. It includes Michael Mizrachi, Isaac Haxton, Noah Boeken, and Kevin Boudreau. It will be interesting to see all these late registering Goliaths battle it out because already on one of the very first hands Mizrachi got one of Boeken's 5,000 stacks. An action table to say the least.

Rivers Freezes Cheong

Five players saw a flop of {K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and the blinds checked to Joseph Cheong, who bet 300. Only the player on the button made the call and the duo watched the {5-Hearts} hit the turn. Cheong didn't take long to fire out 600, which the button called.

The {5-Spades} river paired the board and halted Cheong's aggression as he checked. The button counted out some chips and flung out a bet of 1,600. Cheong thought for well over a minute before flicking his cards in the muck.

OMG...Phil Galfond Is In The Building

Livello 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

We have already pointed out how difficult the late registration table draws have been, and further proof of that is the latest two tables of players. At one, we have Phil Galfond and Joe Cada, and the other has Dan Shak and Matt Waxman

Medic vs. Yellowsub

Jeff Williams raised from the cutoff and was called by Nenad Medic on the button. Both players checked the {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop, leading to the {10-Spades} turn. Williams took the opportunity to bet 800, Medic called, and the {6-Diamonds} appeared on the river.

It went check-check and Williams showed {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{2-Spades} for two pair. Medic nodded as if to say, "It's good," before releasing his hand.

Kassela Has a Mountain to Climb

2010 WSOP Player of the Year Frank Kassela came by media row and asked if he could borrow one of the spare chairs. "You can more than borrow it, you can keep it," came the reply from one of our PokerNews blogging crew.

"Thanks, but I don't think I'll be needing it for long," replied Kassela. As it turned out, Kassela was very short-stacked coming back from the break, but he's just managed to double up through 2010 WSOP November Niner Jason Senti.

All the money was in the middle before the flop and we got there just as the cards were tabled:

Kassela: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Hearts}
Senti: {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

The flop of {9-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} gave Senti the open-ended straight draw, but Kassela's two pair held up all the way as the turn and river ran out {6-Spades}, {8-Clubs}. Kassela then managed to pick up another pot a short time later and he's still in it, albeit with around 3,000 in chips.

Cheong Chips Up

The action folded around to 2010 WSOP Main Event third-place finisher Joseph Cheong who min-raised to 300 from the button; the player in the big blind was the only caller, so they went head-up to the flop of {6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}.

The big blind check-called Cheong's bet of 450 after the flop, then did the same on the turn of the {A-Diamonds} after Cheong opened for 950. However, the big blind check-folded after Cheong fired out 2,000 on the river of the {Q-Spades}.

Cheong and Lindgren Can't Avoid Middle Cards

Four players limped to Erick Lindgren in the big blind and he decided to exercise his option by betting pot. Robert Williamson folded under the gun and Joseph Cheong responded with a limp-raise to 2,000. The player on the button than move all in for 4,275. Lindgren called for less while Cheong called behind.

Button: {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Lindgren: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Cheong: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

While Lindgren and Cheong were playing big cards, the button had decided to go with middle cards. That decision paid off when the flop fell {7-Hearts}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs}, giving him a straight. The {9-Hearts} turn put out a flush draw, but the {7-Spades} river blanked. The button scooped the pot leaving Cheong hurt and Lindgren to rebuy.
