Trickett Takes One Down

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

A player opened for 3,700 from the hi-jack and found one caller in Sam Trickett from the button.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and both players checked. However, Trickett called a 4,800 bet from his opponent when a {4-Diamonds} came on the turn. Both players went back to checking when a {9-Clubs} completed the board.

Trickett flipped {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, which was apparently good enough to scoop the pot, as his opponent mucked.

Trickett is up to 70,000.

Birman Busto

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Aussie poker journalist Paul Birman has just been eliminated at the hands of David McCaskill, who is now on 32,000 in chips.

Having nursed his short stack through until the bubble burst, Birman shoved them in with {Q-}{Q-} but lost the flip against McCaskill whose {A-}{K-} spiked a king on the river.

Smith's Stack Growing

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We caught up with the action on a {5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} board, where the player in the big led out for 3,800. Justin "Boosted J" Smith cut out a raise to 12,400 and pushed it into the middle. His opponent fell hard into the tank but eventually announced, "Call." Smith tabled {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for tip queens. His opponent flipped the {K-Hearts} face up and mucked.

Smith is up to 42,000.

Rounick on a Rampage

Our field reporter caught the action between Melanie Weisner and David Rounick on a board that read {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}; Rounick checked to Weisner who led out for 3,700. Rounick then check-raised to 13,000 and Weisner called before the dealer peeled off the {A-Spades} on the river.

From there, Rounick bet 31,000 and Weisner snap-called, only to fold after Rounick showed {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the nut straight. As a result, Rounick is now the first past the 200,000-chip mark!

James Kerr Catches Killer Turn Card

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We passed by a table and noticed a player shoving all-in for his last 13,600 chips in the small blind. James Kerr had raised to 3,700 from the button and asked for a count before making the call.

Showdown:

Kerr: {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Kerr's opponent was in the lead with his ace-high, but needed to fade tens, sevens and draws in order to survive. The flop fell {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{A-Spades} and while Kerr had paired his ten, his opponent retained the lead with his pair of aces. The dealer burned and turned a {7-Spades} on the river and suddenly Kerr had vaulted into the lead with two-pair. After the {K-Diamonds} fell on the river, Kerr had scored the knockout and added another wing to his towering castle of chips, which looks to contain approximately 140,000.

Trickett Cut Down by Quads

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We caught up after both players had it all in preflop, but it appeared that an opponent had raised from the hi-jack and was three-bet all-in by Trickett from the small. His opponent called.

Opponent: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Trickett: {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

The board came {7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Trickett mucked as soon as the second nine appeared. He is down to 30,000.

Bernard Lee Fighting For His Tournament Life On Day 2
Bernard Lee Fighting For His Tournament Life On Day 2

We caught Bernard Lee facing a raise of 3,800 from an opponent in late position. Rather than surrender his small blind, Lee simply announced himself all-in for his last 14,000 or so chips. His opponent stared across the table at Lee before tossing his cards in the muck.

Although Lee is currently riding a short stack, the noted poker journalist and host appears willing and able to stay patient and survive until he can score a double-up.

De Meulder Doubles

Livello 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We caught up with the action just as Matthias De Meulder was all-in for his last 23,000 against a lone opponent.

De Meulder: {J-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Opponent; {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

The board came {9-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts}, giving De Meulder the straight and the double up good for 50,000.
