Event #39: $2,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em/Omaha

Giorno 1 iniziato

Welcome to Event #39: $2,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em/Omaha

Starting in just around 20 minutes time is today's evening event, the "round of each" half Pot-Limit Hold'em, half Pot-Limit Omaha event. Alternating between two of the most popular forms of poker every nine hands, it's a game that will see the action go extremely fast, perhaps more so during the PLO phase.

Players are starting with 7,500 chips and we're expecting a large field for this late start as many players see this as one of the "easier" events of the series. As well as this, there will be a lot of players who have busted the noon $1,500 event and will simply be desperate to get back into the action.

As mentioned, we'll be starting at 5pm and playing eight levels today.

You're Late!

Livello 1

The Pavilion Room is packed to the gills today and as a result any players who are buying into the tournament late have to wait until the start of level 2 to get to play.

Just another reason to get your seats in these WSOP events early!

PLO

Gavin Griffin fired out 225 on the {3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flop and Erik Cajelais was the only caller. The latter then check-called bets of 600 on the {5-Clubs} turn and then snap-called 1,600 on the {9-Spades} river.

Griffin tapped the table and muck, Cajelais showed {A-}{A-}{8-}{6-} for the pot.

Devilfish's Stack Dips

Livello 1

PLO

Three players saw a flop of {k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. The big blind and Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott in the hijack both checked and the player in the cutoff bet 600. The big blind and Ulliott called and the turn brought the {9-Spades} and action again checked to the cutoff who bet 1,200. Both the other players called and they all saw the {a-Spades} hit on the river.

The big blind checked once more but this time Ulliott bet 1,000. The cutoff and big blind both called and Ulliott said "aces up." The cutoff then flipped over his hand revealing his {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for aces and kings and Devilfish, looking visibly frustrated showed two of his cards, the {2-Hearts} and {9-Hearts} but then mucked his hand. The big blind mucked as well and the cutoff took the pot.

Romanello Chops

Livello 1

PLO

The turn of a {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{J-Spades} board was checked across to Welshman Roberto Romanello who bet 1,075 and was called in two spots. On the {10-Spades} river, the first of the other two players led out for 2,375 - the second passed and Romanello dwelt for a moment before making the call showing {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, his opponent flipped {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for a chop.

No Fun for EFro

Livello 1

PLO

After a flop of {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}, a player in early position bet 400 and Eric Froehlich called from the button. The {10-Spades} fell on the turn, the first player bet 800, and Froehlich again opted to call. The river brought the {3-Clubs} and the early position player tossed out a bet of 1,700. Froehlich called once more but then mucked his hand after the other player revealed his {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for nines full of sixes.

Froehlich was down to 4,000 after the hand.
