Matthew Hyman Eliminated in 10th Place ($73,695)

Matthew Hyman - 10th Place
Matthew Hyman - 10th Place

Taylor Paur opened to 45,000 from the cutoff, and Matthew Hyman called out of the big blind. The flop fell {10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades}, and Hyman checked to Paur who continued for 60,000. Hyman check-raised all in for around 520,000, and Paur quickly called.

Paur: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Hyman: {8-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Hyman needed some help, and received a tiny bit when the {9-Clubs} turned. Any nine or eight on the river and he would double, but the {q-Spades} gave him a lower straight than Paur's, ending Hyman's tournament

Hyman is off to collect his $73,695, while Paur is still alive with almost 2 million chips.

Nick Grippo Eliminated in 9th Place ($73,695)

Nicholas Grippo (9th Place- $73,695)
Nicholas Grippo (9th Place- $73,695)

A huge pot just developed that resulted in the elimination of Nick Grippo. It began when Ben Tollerene raised to 55,000 on the button and Joe Ebanks three-bet to 150,000 from the small blind. Grippo was in the big and opted for a four-bet to 300,000. Tollerene got out of the way while Ebanks put in a big five-bet, though we're not sure of the amount. What we are sure of is that Grippo moved all in and Ebanks snap-called, creating a pot of around 3.4 million.

Grippo: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Ebanks: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}

Both players shared in ace, but it was the king of Ebanks that made him a huge favorite. "Queen," Grippo's supporters called from the rail. Their pleas continued as the {4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop failed to deliver a lady. "Queen," they shouted again as the dealer burned and turned the {10-Hearts}. While it wasn't a queen, it did open the door for a chop.

"Queen," the rail begged as the dealer prepared to put out the river . . . {J-Clubs}. It was a blank as far as Grippo was concerned.

"Nice hand, Joe," Grippo said as he slide stood and exited the tournament area in 9th place.

Sowers Gets There, Doubles

The action folded to Jeremy Menard in the small blind who shoved for effectively 278,000 against Mike Sowers. Sowers called, and was dominated.

Menard: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Sowers: {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

Sowers snatched the lead away when the flop fell {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} however, and successfully doubled after the turn and river came {2-Spades}, {a-Diamonds} respectively.

"I guess I was due," Menard said after the hand. "Better now than the final table."

Big Stacks Mixing It Up

Ben Tollerene raised to 51,000 from the button and found a single caller in the form of Joe Ebanks in the small blind. Given that they were the two big stacks, this pot had the potential to become quite huge; unfortunately, that didn't appear to the case as both players checked the {10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{K-Spades} flop.

Ebanks proceeded to led out for 85,000 on the {7-Hearts} turn, Tollerene called, and the {3-Spades} hit the river. This time Ebanks fired out 200,000, which was enough to get Tollerene to fold.

ElkY Check-Jams River

Ben Tollerene opened to 55,000 from the cutoff, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier defended his big blind. The flop fell {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, and Grospellier check-called 65,000 from Tollerene. Both players checked after the turn brought the {2-Spades}, and the river card was the {6-Hearts}.

Grospellier checked, Tollerene fired 180,000, and Grospellier check-raised all in for 524,000. Tollerene called.

Grospellier opened up {8-Spades}{6-Spades} for trip sixes, Tollerene mucked, and Grospellier doubled his stack to over 1.3 million chips.

Wade Spikes Three-Outer on River to Survive

Action folded to Ben Tollerene on the button and he opted to limp, which Joe Ebanks did in the small blind. Tristan Wade was in the big blind and decided to exercise his option by making it 124,000 to go. Tollerene got out of the way while Ebanks made the call.

When the flop fell {3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Ebanks checked, Wade fired out 137,000, and Ebanks check-raised to 280,000. Wade's next play was moving all in for 591,000 more and Ebanks called immediately.

Wade: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Ebanks: {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

While Wade held the superior hand preflop, Ebanks managed to flop top pair and leave Wade drawing to a king. The {10-Hearts} turn changed nothing, and Wade was down to three outs. Wouldn't you know it, the {K-Spades} spiked on the river to give Wade the double, much to Ebanks' dissatisfaction.

Chalk One Up for Ebanks

In a blind-versus-blind confrontation, Ben Tollerene raised to 75,000 from the small and was called bu Joe Ebanks in the big. The {J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop inspired Tollerene to bet 100,000, which Ebanks called. Again Tollerene fired, this time 250,000, when the dealer burned and turned the {K-Clubs}, and again Ebanks called.

When the {Q-Clubs} rolled off on the river, Tollerene slowed down with a check. Ebanks tanked for a bit before betting 275,000, which proved enough to get his opponent to fold.
