Day 3 Almost Set to Start With Mercier Leading

Welcome to PokerNews' Day 3 coverage of Event #49, the $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball. After 18 levels of play, only 13 remain from a starting field of 310. To say that the remaining field is stacked would be an understatement. On top of the counts with the 358,500 is Jason Mercier. With a bracelet already won this summer, Mercier will be looking to add another and continue his rise among poker's elite.

It won't be an easy task, though, as a talented and skilled bunch are hot on his heels. Bracelet winners Eli Elezra and Scott Seiver are also above the 300,000 mark, while Shawn Buchanan, Jon Turner, Galen Hall, David Back, and Justin Bonomo also are still in contention.

Play kicks off at 3:00 PM PT, about 40 minutes from now, so be sure to keep it here at PokerNews throughout the day for all of the exciting action as it takes place.

After the draw, Mercier bet, Dorin folded, Elezra called and Bach called.

On the second draw, Mercier stood pat, Elezra drew two and Bach drew one. Mercier then bet out again and Elezra folded. Bach made the call.

On the third and final draw, Mercier was still pat. Bach drew one. Mercier fired a bet and Bach couldn't call. He mucked his hand and Mercier increased his chip lead.

Verkaik's Queen is Good

Nicholas Verkaik raised from middle position and Jon Turner called from the big blind. Both players drew two cards and then Turner check-called a bet from Verkaik.

After the betting around, both players drew one and then checked. On the third draw, both drew one again. Turner bet out and Verkaik called.
