Watkinson Has His Hall Pass

Livello 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

When we came to the table, Galen Hall and Lee Watkinson were heads up on a board that read {5-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Hall had bet out 4,000, and Watkinson raised it up to 12,000. Hall gave it about a minute of thought before calling. The {8-Diamonds} hit the river, completing a low draw, and Watkinson shoved all in, having Hall covered. Hall tanked for a couple of minutes before finally letting his hand go. Hall is down to 18,000 after that hand, while Watkinson is up to 55,000.

Gotta Love That Funk

We found Ashkan Razavi all in and at risk preflop for around 12,000 against David Funkhouser. Their hands were as follows.

Funkhouser: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Razavi: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts}

The flop came down {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} to give Funkhouser two pair and a low draw and had Razavi in awful shape. The {6-Diamonds} on the turn gave Funkhouser a low and ensured that he would at least get some part of the pot. The {10-Diamonds} on the river was of no help to Razavi who was eliminated as Funkhouser scooped the pot to grow his stack.

Pot Pot Good for Laak

Livello 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

From under the gun, Trai Dang raised to 2,100 and action folded around to Phil Laak on the button who raised the pot to 7,500. The blinds folded and Dang made the call.

The flop came down {2-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Dang checked to Laak. He decided to bet pot which was worth 16,200. After a few moments, Dang released his hand and Laak scooped the pot to get up to 50,000.

Mercier Eliminated by Bach

We caught the action in this hand on a flop of {K-Spades}{2-Hearts}{A-Spades}. Jason Mercier, who was in the small blind, appeared to have bet pot, which was 10,400. David Bach then raised to 40,000, pushing a player on the button off his hand. Mercier only had a single T100 chip behind and committed it to the pot.

Mercier: {A-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Bach: {J-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

Bach was ahead with aces and kings, but Mercier had some outs to both a high and low. The {Q-Clubs} turn was not one of them, and neither was the {4-Diamonds} river. Mercier rapped the table, grabbed his bag, and exited the tournament area. Meanwhile, Bach is up to nearly 75,000 in chips.

Bing Bing Binger

Livello 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

On a {10-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, the big blind checked to Nick Binger in middle position and he bet 4,000. Daniel Alaei was to Binger's immediate left and made the call before the big blind got out of the way.

The turn was the {k-Clubs} and this time Binger led for 10,000. Alaei called. The river was the {6-Clubs}. Binger took a look at Alaei's stack which currently stood at just under 20,000 and decided to move him all in. Alaei seemed frustrated, counted out his chips and threw in his cards.

With that pot, Binger hits the 60,000-chip mark.

Sklansky and Martinez Victimized by Parades

David Parades raised to 2,000 from early position and received a call from David Sklansky in middle position. Jordi Martinez then potted all in from the cutoff, which both Parades and Sklansky called, with the latter calling for less.

Martinez: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Sklansky: {6-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Parades: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{3-Spades}

Both Martines and Sklansky were at risk, especially when the {9-Spades}{J-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop delivered Parades a straight and flush draw. The {7-Clubs} turn filled the said flush, meaning the at-risk players needed a qualifying low card to hit the river to stay alive. Unfortunately for them both, the {10-Spades} blanked on the river and Parades scored the double elimination.

Seed Stays Alive...Twice

Livello 9 : 400/800, 0 ante
Huck Seed
Huck Seed

Huck Seed has been very active today, as we have seen him putting his chips in play nearly every time we walk by his table. We saw him get involved in big pots twice in the span of a few minutes, and both times, Seed had to catch a card to stay alive.

On the first hand, the flop read {3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. There was 6,400 in the pot, and Seed bet out pot fairly quickly. His opponent, Cailin Jin, then moved all in, and Seed didn't appear to be too happy with that. He said "Well I've already put all my chips in guess I have to call." The cards were flipped up, and Seed was in bad shape.

Jin: {4-Spades}{q-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Seed: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Spades}

Jin had top pair and the nut low draw, while Seed was drawing thin, needing a king for the high or a four to take the pot. The turn came the {9-Diamonds}, giving him no help, but the river came the {4-Hearts}, giving Seed the low and helping him survive.

A few hands later, Seed and David "Doc" Sands were in a hand heads up on a flop of {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Sands bet out 7,200, and Seed slid all of his orange T1000 chips in the middle. Sands annouced all in, and again Seed didn't seem too thrilled with making the call.

Sands: {q-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Seed: {5-Spades}{a-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

Sands had flopped the nut straight, and Seed was looking for a low card to take half the pot. He got it on the turn, the {3-Clubs}, and the meaningless river was the {9-Diamonds}. We will be sure to keep an eye on Seed, who's sitting on around 20,000 at the moment.
