Prahlad Friedman was very short very early and finally just busted. He got his last few chips all in preflop with 
and got a few callers who battled out. Eventually when it was all said and done, the winning player took down the pot with a set of sixes and Friedman hit the rail.

As we were walking by Table 48, we noticed that Seat 4 was occupied by Kelly Kim, who had recently been moved from the Green Section. However, Seat 4 used to belong to WSOP-Circuit superstar Mark "Pegasus" Smith. The game of musical chairs can only mean that Smith has been eliminated from the Main Event.

The player under the gun opened for 800, Ray Henson called behind and the small blind went along. The flop came 
, the small blind checked, the UTG player checked and Henson bet 1,150. The small blind called and the UTG player folded. The turn came

A player sitting under the gun minimum-raised to 400 and got three callers including Abe Mosseri from middle position. The player in the small blind then made it 2,100 to go, forcing out everyone but Mosseri.
The flop came 
, and the reraiser checked quickly. Mosseri studied the board for a moment, then tossed out a bet of 2,200. His opponent sat quietly for a half-minute, then pushed his cards dealerward.
Mosseri, who owns one WSOP bracelet (2009, $2,500 2-7 Triple Draw), has chipped up to 56,000 within the first three hours of play today.
Getting the official number of players from the staff is a bit like pulling alligator teeth today as they're choosing to keep that info very close to the vest. Still, we're doing what we can to gather intel. We know that we crossed the 6,000-player mark sometime yesterday evening, and the field has continued to grow significantly over the last 24 hours. Based on the limited info from the staff and a quick count of the tables in play, we can safely say that at least 2,800 players have registered for this Day 1d, bringing the total number up over 6,800. That means we've already surpassed the 6,494 players from 2009, and we've likely bested the 6,844 from 2008 as well. It looks like we'll come up a bit short of last year's 7,319, but it's still a possibility with registration open for some time yet.
Again, this is all unofficial. But still. The third-largest Main Event in history? In a supposedly down year? That's quite a feat, and we'd imagine there'll be a few bottles of the bubbly in the staff room later tonight.

We arrived at the table and found that after a series of preflop raises, an opponent had re-raised all in and put Casey McCarrel to the test.
McCarrel, who had already committed at least 16,000 to the pot, appeared close to letting his hand go, but opted to call about 15,000 more. His opponent tabled 
, leaving McCarrel in bad shape with 
. However, McCarrel hit the board bigtime as it rolled out 
to send his opponent to the rail.
After the hand David Baker laughingly said, "Easiest kings fold...ever."
McCarrel got a good laugh out of it and is all smiles with a stack of about 71,000.

With 2,200 in the pot preflop and four players in the hand, action checked to a player in middle position on the 
flop. He promptly bet 900, John Juanda raised to 2,700 from the cutoff, and action folded back around to the original bettor who made the call.
The middle-position player proceeded to check call a bet of 6,800 on the 
turn, before both players checked the 
river. The middle-position player wasn't sheepish about turning over his 
for a set, which inspired Juanda to toss his hand to the muck.

Jennifer Tilly started the action, raising to 550 from early position. She received two calls from middle position, and Toni Judet put in a three-bet to 2,300 on the button. Tilly and one of the callers mucked, but a gentleman in the hijack seat threw in enough chips to call, and the flop fell

Judet's opponent immediately led for 2,000, and Judet raised to 5,700. The player called. The two knuckled after the turned, and then Judet's opponent tossed out a measly 2,500 when the 
hit the river. Judet immediately called.
Judet's opponent must have been confused with the quick call, because it took him about ten seconds to finally table his hand - 
. Upon seeing the wired jacks, Judet tabled two black queens, and won the pot.

In a five way pot, it was checked to David Vamplew who bet 1,425 and received just a solitary caller to see the turn. Vamplew fired out 3,750 this time but his opponent quickly raised to 10,000 and the Scottish EPT winner didn't waste much time in quickly folding
