If You Plan on Coming Down to the Rio, it Might be Wise to Bring an Extra Layer

Livello 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

We were just checking out the action at a table when Jeremy Adler of Montreal, Quebec, Canada who was in shorts and a t-shirt commented about how freezing he was. You would think that someone from the Great White North would be used to the cold but nope. So we asked him if we could get him a sweatshirt and he said that would be great. He handed us $50 and we we’re on our way over to the official WSOP store next to the poker kitchen to buy him a sweatshirt. We quickly returned to hand it to him and it was a perfect fit! Adler was sitting with around 11,000 in chips when we left him.

So let this be a reminder, if any of you plan on coming down to the Rio, take Tony Dunst’s advice and bring an extra layer with you. If it’s too hot, you can always remove it and if it gets cold, you can put it back on.

Varkonyi Losing Steam

Livello 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

We just caught a hand where former Main Event Champion Robert Varkonyi and Todd Breyfogle were all in preflop. Varkoni held the {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} but was behind to Breyfogle's {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. The board ran out {a-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Breyfogle doubled up.

After the hand Breyfogle had around 6,200 while Varkonyi was down to 4,500.

Crazy Eights No Good For Yang

Livello 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

A player in early position raised to 400 and a player in middle position re-raised all in for 2075. Former Main Event Champion Jerry Yang was on the button and called while the initial raiser folded.

Yang: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Opponent: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{2-Spades} and the queens held allowing the other player to double up.

After the hand Yang was down to around 8,200.

Adler Still Cold Despite Now Having a Sweatshirt

Livello 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

Jeremy Adler wasn’t actually cold anymore but this hand certainly didn’t help him heat up. He raised to 400 in middle position and the button called. The flop came {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Adler made it 400 to go again. His opponent moved all in for 1,625 though and Adler released his hand. However he was still sitting with a healthy stack of about 7,000.

Big Stacks Emerging

Livello 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

As we near the end of level four we're starting to see some big stacks appear in the field. Shane Schleger had 24,500 at last count and Dan Shak was up to around 30,000. Shak is excited that he is doing well so far and wants to give a shout-out to his kids.

Brotherly Love

Livello 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

We found Bryn Kenney sitting on a healthy stack of 15,000. We asked him if his brother was also playing and lo and behold, he pointed out Tyler who was sitting at an adjacent table in a blue hoodie with 3,250.
