Funaro Tops Ponakovs in the Blinds

Livello 19 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

The action folded to Aleksejs Ponakovs in the small blind who just limped in. Frank Funaro raised to 400,000 in the big blind and Ponakovs called to see a flop of Q105.

Ponakovs checked to Funaro who continued with a bet of 300,000 and Ponakovs called. The turn was the 3 and Ponakovs led out with a bet of 250,000. Funaro just called and the 4 completed the board.

Ponakovs checked this time and Funaro announced a bet of 1,300,000. Ponakovs used one of his time banks before dropping in the call. Funaro flipped over AQ for top pair and Ponakovs conceded the pot.

Brian Rast raised it up on the button and Jorge Consiglieri ripped all in for 870,000 in the small blind. Roman Hrabec folded his big blind and Rast called after confirming the count.

Jorge Consiglieri: A3
Brian Rast: A6

Rast held the preflop advantage but there were plenty of opportunities for a chopped pot. However, the flop of 642 gave Rast a pair and Consiglieri a straight draw. The A on the turn and the 7 on the river was not enough for Consiglieri as he bowed out in 11th place.

Rast checked this time and Hrabec checked it back to the 9 on the river. Rast checked once more and Hrabec fired out a bet of 600,000, good enough to make Rast lay his hand down.

Aleksejs Ponakovs Eliminated In 10th Place ($96,986)

Livello 20 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Aleksejs Ponakovs
Aleksejs Ponakovs

Darren Elias opened to 245,000 in the cutoff and on the button Ponakovs moved all in for 1,740,000 which saw Lewis Spencer in the big blind use two time banks before folding for roughly the same stack. Elias snap called and the cards were on their backs.

Aleksejs Ponakovs: KJ
Darren Elias: AK

The flop of Q62 gave Ponakovs a myriad of backdoor outs, which saw the turn A eliminated Ponakovs pair outs, leaving him with a flush draw and straight draw. The river 3 did not improve Ponakovs and the bracelet winner exited the tournament just shy of the final table.

The final nine players have taken their seats for the final table.
