Hinkle Gets Folds

Livello 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Mason Hinkle, who enjoyed a deep run in this event last year, eventually finishing in 14th place, opened to 500 from middle position after a player limped from early position. He received calls from a player in late position, the button, and the original limper.

Action checked to Hinkle following the A7J flop and he continued for 1,300. That bet was met by three quick folds, sending a pot Hinkle's direction early in the day.

Livello 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Gordie Clark bet 1,000 from the cutoff on a 1010Q flop, and early position player Rick Castro called. Both players checked a J turn.

When the river came 5, Castro came out of hiding and led out for 1,500. Clark called and Castro showed K10 for flopped trips.

Castro told Ron Groeller at the end of his table, "See, I don't always have ace king!"

Groeller told PokerNews "I prefer to be named as Ron 'High Roller' Groeller, but as short stacked as I am, you can call me 'Groupon' Ron."

Pecheux Is Playing Everything

Livello 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Erwann Pecheux
Erwann Pecheux

As he likes to report it on his Instagram profile, French regular Erwann Pecheux is on to his 40th tournament this summer. After busting the $3,000 event earlier today, Pecheux is in the mix in this $500 Freezeout. And he's still in chase of his best WSOP result, finishing runner-up in 2015 in a $1,500 Mix Max bracelet event.

A player in early position opened to 800, called by middle position, button and Erwann Pecheux in the big blind.

On the flop Q58, middle position player took the lead with a 2,500 bet. Only Pecheux called.

On the turn 7, middle position player checked before his turn. Pecheux checked and the river came 5.

Once again, middle position player started to act before his turn but Pecheux quickly checked and his opponent fired a 5,000 bet. Enough to take the pot as Pecheux remained around the starting stack.

The Kings Check

Livello 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Four ways to a flop of J57 and three checks to Harshvardham Baghel in late position, he placed a wager of 2,500. The small blind folded and the other two players made the call.

Three ways to the 4 and both players checked to Baghel. This time Baghel placed a bet of 6,000. The player who was in the big blind folded and the player in between made the call. Together they saw the Q on the river and the player who was first to act quickly checked. Baghel declared kings and showed the KK and his opponent mentioned he couldn't help calling with his flush and straight draw on the turn, showing the Q8.

Yang Up Big Early

Livello 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Jerry Yang opened to 800 from middle position and was called by a player to his left as well as the button to generate three-way action heading to the flop.

Yang continued for 900 on a flop of 1085, getting a fold from the button but a call from his other opponent.

The former Main Event champion did not slow down following the 2 turn, instead making it 3,800 to go. That bet was enough to convince his opponent to release their holding, sending another pot towards Yang who has managed to amass a big stack in the first few levels of the day.
