Normand Soars up the Chip Counts

PokerNews caught up with Derek Normand who recounted how he doubled up the previous level against Ren Lin.

Normand had opened to 40,000 and was three-bet to 120,000 by Lin, which he called to see the flop of Q♠9♦5♥.

Normand check-called a bet of 80,000 and they went to the turn 10♥ where Lin fired again for 140,000. Normand then shoved all in for his remaining 580,000 and Lin made the call to put him at risk .

Normand's jacks were well behind Lin's pair of queens, but the river saved him as the 8♣ smacked down to give him a straight to stay alive with a big double-up. He has since been on a hot streak and is now sitting at close to 2,000,000 in chips while LIn unfortunately was eliminated.

Wiegmann Shoves The River

Andrew Dean raised to 50,000 from the hijack and action folded around to Cody Wiegmann in the big blind who called.

On the A♣5♣5♥ flop, Wiegmann checked to Dean who bet 25,000. Wiegmann raised to 70,000 which saw Dean call.

Action on the 6♦ turn checked through to the 7♦ river where Wiegmann moved all in for 235,000. Dean considered his options for a bit before tossing his hand into the muck, ceding the pot to Wiegmann.

Father & Daughter Make the Money of the 2023 WSOP Main Event

One of the most heartwarming storylines of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) emerged yesterday as the father-daughter duo of Amanda Botfeld and David Botfeld made the money of the $10,000 WSOP Main Event World Championship.

Amanda Botfeld, a poker writer and author of 2020's A Girl's Guide to Poker, announced on Twitter that she and her dad had made it to the money in poker's most prestigious event. The tweet included a photo of the two locked in a loving embrace, no doubt happy to have secured a payday of at least $15,000.

David Botfeld was eliminated later on Day 4, while Amanda Botfeld is still alive on Day 5.
