Pollak Winds Up Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth has started.
Phil Hellmuth has started.

The last time Phil Hellmuth tangled with Benjamin Pollak in the blind battle he came out of the encounter with a bloody nose after being forced to lay down the four-bet. Unfortunately, for the big man, he has just tried to have another go at the Frenchman and once again ended up a little worse for wear!

The action folded around to Hellmuth who decided to raise to 4,900 and Benjamin Pollak made the call. The flop of {Q-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} was checked through and we saw the {10-Spades} on the turn. Hellmuth made a very confident looking 9,000 bet and Pollak made the call. The river was the {K-Hearts} and Hellmuth checked to Pollak who bet 18,500 and then the fun started. Hellmuth started talking to himself and was visibly angry. Then he moved from talking to himself to talking to Pollak.

"You wanna mess with me? Well the deck had better save you."

"I knew I was going to get you after the last hand."

"I am 100% going to bust you."

"OK its OK you can show the bluff."

Were the main sentences that came out of Hellmuth;s mouth and landed on my note pad. He folded his hand and Pollak waved the nine-high bluff at Hellmuth and hauled in the pot. Hellmuth started again.

"You called a 9k bet with nine high. This is not poker!"

"You guys play so bad against me. 9K with nine high!"

Then after speaking to himself and then Pollak he decided to speak to anyone else who would listen to him.

"Freddy, Freddy (Deeb) they have got me talking to myself now!"

The Hellmuth Show Continues

He was quiet for almost two entire days but ever since Benjamin Pollak clashed with him a couple of orbits ago Phil hasn't stopped talking! We joined the action in a big pot with the board showing {9-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Anton Wigg bet 23,800. Hellmuth gave it some thought before calling and this put Pollak in a very tough spot. After a while Pollak folded his set of treys and Wigg showed {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}. Hellmuth sat motionless for a number of seconds before releasing his cards.

"This guy! He's trying to give me all his chips! He's been bluffing all night long. Come on!" Phil shouted at Wigg who just stacked his chips without replying. "At least the live one is playing pots," Phil added to his rant.

"I'm quite alive indeed," Wigg replied.

The very next hand Wigg raised to 4,800, getting calls from, yet again, Hellmuth and Pollak. The flop brought out {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and after Hellmuth had checked, Pollak bet 6,200. Wigg called and so did Hellmuth. The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and within a second Hellmuth threw out 14,000 chips. Pollak folded but Wigg was going nowhere. The river was the {4-Clubs} and Hellmuth verbally announced his 22,000 bet. Wigg snap-folded and Hellmuth instantly showed his {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

"Of course I have the nuts!" Hellmuth yelled for everyone to hear.

Wigg could only produce a little smirk right before the next hand started. The player to Wigg's right raised to 5,000 and within seconds the Swede released a 11,700 size three-bet.

"How much is it?" Hellmuth asked, and affter getting confirmation he called. The initial raiser folded so Wigg and Hellmuth clashed for the third consecutive hand. The flop brought out {K-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Hellmuth check-folded to Wigg's 8,700 bet. "Floor!" Hellmuth shouted to keep his show going before releasing his hand. "When are you gonna break this table?" the 11-time bracelet winner asked. The floor explained that this was going to be one of the two final tables and Hellmuth responded with, "Good. I've made some plans. My style is great. It's just great". Hellmuth showed his {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Wigg tabled his {J-Clubs}{J-Spades} proving he actually had a hand. "You won a flip, so what?" Hellmuth added leaving Wigg with a smile on his face.

We will make sure we follow all of this banter, action and Hellmuth antics for the remainder of the day because the fireworks between Wigg, Pollak and the self proclaimed best player in the world seem to be far from over.

No Comeback for Jetten

Peter Jetten had some crazy swings today but in the end he ended up on the wrong side of things. Jetten got his stack all the way up to 83,000 when he got it all-in pre flop against Johan Sundell.

Peter Jetten{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Johan Sundell{J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and that's it for Jetten who finishes in 20th. The Canadien takes home €7.560 for his efforts.

Down to Three Tables, Ozhenilok Busts

Anatolii Ozhenilok was caught in the battles between Wigg and Hellmuth for a long time but after moving to a new table he got quickly eliminated. Ozhenilok shoved all-in pre flop for his remaining 18,500 chips and got called by Casey Kastle who was in the big blind.

Casey Kastle{A-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Anatolii Ozhenilok{Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{J-Spades} giving Kastle a pair of aces and the knock out. There will be a redraw now after which we will continue playing with just three tables.

Guillaume Humbert has created a bit of space between himself and the person in 2nd after eliminating Johan Sundell in a classic steal spot.

Humbert raised to 7,000 from the button and Sundell three-bet to 20,000 in the big blind. Humbert declared he was all-in and Sundell made the very quick call.

Marvin Rettenmaier Busts in 17th Place

Marvin Rettenmaier Eliminated in 17th Place
Marvin Rettenmaier Eliminated in 17th Place

Marvin Rettenmaier has just been eliminated against Bruno Benveniste and maybe a hand, a few orbits earlier, may have sown the seed for the Germans demise?

In the earlier hand Benveniste raised to 5,000 from the button and Rettenmaier three-bet to 15,000 in the big blind. Benveniste made his decision simple by moving all-in and Rettenmaier mucked his hand.

In the elimination hand, a few orbits later, Benveniste raised on the button again but this time Rettenmaier moved all-in and Benveniste called.

Robert Finlay Outplays the Man

Robert Finlay just clashed with Phil Hellmuth and after the hand was over, Finlay looked at me and said, "write about me outplaying the man." So here you are Mr Finlay - your five-minutes of fame!

Finlay made up the small change from the small blind and Hellmuth added 6,000 more to the pot and Finlay snap-called. The flop was {Q-Clubs} {6-Spades} {4-Clubs} and both players quickly checked. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Finlay came out betting for 10,000 and Hellmuth nearly bit his hand off. The final card was the {3-Spades} and no sooner had it landed on the table, Finlay had moved all-in. Hellmuth leapt to his feet.

"Come on! Come on!" He said before composing himself. "It's not hard to trap an English guy who plays nine-three off-suit," Said Hellmuth referring to an earlier hand between the pair.

Hellmuth folded his hand and Finlay flashed {K-Clubs} {5-Clubs} for the bluff.
