Bentornati per la coperura di PokerNews del2010 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event! I primi due giorni iniziali hanno offerto grande azione di poker, ma il Day 2 è il giorno in cui i giocatori rimanenti di ciascun round si combinano in un unico field e le cose diventano ancora più interessanti. Finora, siamo stati benedetti dai field di tornei di più elite e da qui in poi non possiamo che aspettarci uno spettacolo ancora migliore.
Il campione del 2010 Irish Open James Mitchell è al comando dei 195 sopravvissuti con uno stack di 178,850 chips. Un risultato piuttosto impressionante, ma è subito seguito dal November Nine John Dolan che è appena dietro a 173,700 chips.
Ma tra i primi 25 in classifica ci sono molti altri grandi nomi a caccia del braccialetto. Faraz Jaka è sempre pericoloso e ritornerà con 120,125. Eli Elezra, McLean Karr, Antonio Esfandiari, Carlos Mortensen e Nick Schulman sono tutti sopra quota 100,000-chip. Infine c'è anche Phil Ivey con 94,350.
Daniel Negreanu è arrivato al tavolo finale WSOP Europe Main Event negli ultimi due anni, ma è riuscito a chiudere con soli 32,475 a fine giornata. Il giocatore che lo sconfisse all'heads-up l'anno scorso fu Barry Shulman. Il campione in carica ritornerà oggi con uno stack di 86,325, buono per il 30° posto in classifica. Rivedremo il campione del 2008 John Juanda invece con 41,075 mentre la campionessa del 2007 Annette Obrestad non è riuscita a superare il Day 1a.

Dopo aver annunciato "shuffle up and deal" le carte sono in aria per il Day 2.
Prima che l'azione partisse, abbiamo chiesto a Negreanu come si sentisse e ci ha risposto che pensa possa arrivare ad un altro tavolo finale WSOP Europe Main Event.
"Mi sento bene," ha detto Negreanu. "Lo so che è strano dirlo, ma lo sento. Mi sento bene."
In quella che crediamo sia la prima mano della giornata, Chris Bjorin ha aperto da bottone, Faraz Jaka ha three-bettato a 5,900 da big blind e Bjorin ha immediatamente flat-callato.
Con al flop, Jaka ha fatto check, permettendo a Bjorin di spingere per 15,875. Jaka ha foldato.
Fabian Quoss ha rilanciato a 1,500 da early position e Sam Stein ha chiamato. Doppio check al flop di , con Quoss che ha puntato 2,850 e 2,700 al turn,, e river, .
Stein lo ha sempre seguito con , ma Quoss aveva la stessa mano, , e hanno diviso il piatto.
Gregory Merson è stato azzoppato a soli 1,000 chips dopo aver messo il suo stack nel mezzo al board di contro il second nut floppato con di Darren Woods. Il turn, , non ha cambiato niente mentre il river, , ha solo aumentato la ferita.
Dominic Kay è un pro inglese che ha giocato il tavolo finale qui nel 2007 (6° per £152,040) ma è tornato oggi con uno short stack di 14,500. Avrà sognato la notte scorsa di avere un buon inizio e se considerate che ha appena raddoppiato, possiamo dire che è proprio quello che è accaduto.
Ha rilanciato con chiamato da Jason Gray in BB. Il flop è sceso dieci-alta e tre-bassa e Gray ha rilanciato mettendo Kay all-in. Kay ha chiamato e Gray aveva solo la coppia di tre.
Con il board che leggeva , Nick Schulman ha fatto check a Greg Mueller che ha puntato 6,500, circa il valore del piatto. Schulman ha risposto con aggressione, rilanciando a 19,000. Mueller ci ha pensato a lungo per poi passare. Schulman è salito a 112,000 mentre Mueller è sceso a 53,000.
