Back-to-Back Bustouts for Smith

Livello 13 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Zachary Smith
Zachary Smith

Zachary Smith opened to 11,000 and then was quickly three-bet to 80,000 by a player to his left who moved all in. The action folded back around to Smith who snap-called to put him at risk of elimination.

Smith tabled 77 while his opponent flipped over AK.

The board ran out 9263Q for Smith's sevens to hold and he was pushed the pot while his opponent made his exit.

"Hey! You got a lot of chips, you better start busting people over there!" David Soskin yells from another table.

"Hey man, I just busted someone and I'm about to do it again!" Smith replied as he called another all-in to put a player at risk.

This time he was the one to flip over AK while the other player held KK for a big pair.

The runout was extremely friendly to Smith as it came Q108QJ to give him an ace-high flush to send his opponent to the rail and he raked in another pot.

Ashley Frank opened to 5,000 and Daniel Lowery three-bet to 17,000, which Frank called to see a flop of 84J.

The action went check-check and the duo went to the turn 3 which saw a bet of 14,000 from Lowery and a call from Frank.

On the river Q, Lowery slowed down and checked over to Frank, who bet 25,000. Lowery paused for a few seconds to think it over before he ultimately decided to toss it in the muck to award her the pot.

"I had a big hand," he admitted as Frank stacked her new chip to put her at 177,000.

Winter Feels 'Really Good' About PoY Race

Livello 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Brian Winter
Brian Winter

During the break, PokerNews had a chance to catch up with RunGood PoY points leader Brian Winter aka Golden Blazer, who is currently sitting around a starting stack in Day 1a.

"Well, to be honest, I've completely air-balled this stop so far, I think I'm in for around 11 bullets, but that's the way the cards fall sometimes. However, there's this new stat that I like to keep in my mind, which is 'peak stack', and those have been really good, consistently getting 3x, 4x,5x starting stack, but then losing big flips, but it's fine it happens! I'm feeling really good about my game, I'm feeling really good about my lead (approx. 600 currently), and the way that I'm playing, so yeah, I'm feeling really good."

Destination RunGood: Tulsa Main Event Kicks off Tonight with Day 1a

Hard Rock Tulsa
Hard Rock Tulsa

The RunGood Poker Series kicks off 2024 with its newest season, Destination: RunGood here at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The series returns tonight for the first of three starting flights for the stop's $800 Main Event. With a championship ring up for grabs alongside the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, this event will bring out many familiar faces and ring winners from past RGPS seasons, adding to the stop's already fun and family-like atmosphere at the tables.

As with all of the RunGood Main Events, the eventual winner will also win a seat in the invitation-only Dream Seat event that runs at the end of the year. The tournament's eventual winner will then win a seat into the 64-player capped field PokerGo Invitational $1,000,000 guaranteed freeroll, meaning that taking down this event could be a ticket to life-changing money for whoever goes home with the title.

The RGPS Tulsa Main Event defending champion from last October is Tyler Barnes who topped a 499-person field to take down the top prize of $52,692 along with the title and the ring. With a total prize-pool worth $260,000, that event almost tripled the guarantee of $100,000 and that is what is to be expected here this weekend.

Players expected to take their seats and chase a main event title include all-time RGPS ring leader and Player of the Year frontrunner Brian Winter along with RunGood Ambassadors Ashley ‘Pokerface Ash’ Frank, Daniel Lowery, Michael Lech, and Kasey Mills. Shaun Emery, who is ranked second in POY points will also be in the mix, hot on the heels of Winter.

While this is a short list of notable names expected at the tables tonight to kick off the main event, the RunGood Poker Series is known for its community of regulars at all stops and it's safe to say that every table will end up being a family-like atmosphere filled with familiar faces, laughter and big pots.

Day 1a will kick off at 6:00 p.m. CST with a 30,000 starting stack and 30-minute levels, with blinds of 100/200/200. Players will be given a will continue until 12.5% of the field remains, at which point the remaining players bag for the Day 2 session on Sunday.

Make sure to stay tuned in with PokerNews for up-to-date coverage of the RunGood Poker Series Tulsa Main Event!
