$10,400 WPT World Championship
Giorno 1c completo
A total of 973 players entered Day 1c of the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship on Thursday, bringing the total entries to 2,312. For the $40 million guarantee to hit, the tournament needs 1,819 players to register for Day 1d (Friday), and there's a high probability that will happen.
Although the first three sessions attracted far fewer players than is needed on Friday, the final session is expected to far and away be the biggest. Many players have been waiting to register for Day 1d, and numerous players flew from The Bahamas on Thursday to Las Vegas from the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise event.
The prize pool will be available after registration closes late Friday evening. We'll also find out just how close or how far over the record-breaking guarantee the tournament gets.
When the 10th 60-minute level completed, 360 players bagged up chips, but no one had a larger stack in their bag than Kyle Ho, who finished the session with 1,211,000 chips. The largest stack during the previous two starting flights was Jeff Hakim on Day 1a with 998,000.
Ho wasn't the only player on Thursday to finish with over 1 million chips. Chance Kornuth ended with 1,130,000, and 2019 WSOP Main Event champion Hossein Ensan filled his bag with 1,100,000 chips.
One player who didn't bag over 1 million chips, or any chips for that matter, is 17-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, who is still in search of his first World Poker Tour title. The "Poker Brat" made his first appearance in the 2023 WPT World Championship Festival, but he was unable to spin up a stack and reach Day 2.
Fortunately, for the Poker Hall of Famer, much like anyone who failed to bag during the first three sessions, he'll have one last opportunity on Friday. At the conclusion of Day 1c, WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage announced that over 400 players had already registered for the final opening flight. Many others will sign-up before play begins at 11 a.m. PT, and throughout the day.
Other notables who advanced from Day 1c include Tony Dunst, Daniel Sepiol, Ren Lin, David Jackson, Matt Affleck, and David Williams. Full chip counts will be available in the morning.

The action was intense in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Ladies Cash Game on Thursday, but the hand of the night involved Kristen Foxen who was put in a brutal situation with a full house.
Foxen was joined by some other skilled opponents inside the Encore Ballroom, including Xuan Liu, Lily Kiletto, and Kasey Lyn Mills for some $25/$50 no-limit hold'em on the WPT YouTube channel.
Entering the hand, about four hours into the session, Foxen was the game's biggest winner, up more than $11,000. Iris Liu ("Pocky") made it $300 with A♣6♣ from early position and received a call from Foxen's 2♣2♦, Kiletto's 4♠4♣ in the cutoff, and Liu's K♠7♥ in the straddle.
The flop came out 2♥5♦4♥, creating a set-over-set situation. Foxen bet $500 with bottom set and received calls from Pocky and Kiletto. Following the 4♦ on the turn, which brought about quads for Kiletto, Pocky decided to bluff with a $2,500 wager. Both players called and the 8♣ on the river changed nothing.
Pocky, who was drawing dead to both players on the turn, fired out another bluff attempt, this time for $9,000. Foxen opted to just call with a full house before Kiletto moved all in for $20,950. That, of course, forced Pocky to fold, but put Foxen in a difficult situation.
She knew Kiletto didn't really have many, if any bluffs as that isn't a spot where players will attempt a bluff. After about 10 minutes in the tank trying to figure out which made hands she could beat that would shove on that board, the high-stakes pro was able to find a fold and save an extra $11,000.
The big pot Kiletto won against Foxen wasn't her only one of the day, but it was the key to her $22,750 win, the biggest at the table. Jouhan Allende had the second largest profit ($13,350).
Liu (-$10,650) and Mills (-$10,150) were the only two players to end the night with double-digit deficits. Foxen battled back strong from the cooler hand against Kiletto to finish the stream barely down anything (-$1,375). The same can be said about Pocky, who bluffed off a significant portion of her stack in one hand but only lost $1,900 overall.
Esther "E-Tay" Taylor lost a small amount (-$750), while Ashley Sleeth had a rough session and ended up down $3,425.
The conclusion of the Ladies Cash Game wraps up a series of ladies events during the WPT World Championship Festival. Jamie Kerstetter, who commented on Thursday night stream, hosted a WPT Ladies Meet-Up Game (MUG) at Wynn last week. Lisa Costello shipped the $1,100 WPT Ladies Championship tournament for $85,297 on Dec. 9.

Fresh from his return from a 15-month poker hiatus, Garrett Adelstein has switched from yesterday's appearance on Bally Live Poker to the Wynn for Day 1c of the WPT World Championship.
"The reception has been universally positive," he told the World Poker Tour. "I really never play tournaments but I was already here and I have another WPT cash game stream tomorrow, so I thought I'd just hop in!"
After 609 and 730 players entered the WPT World Championship on Day 1a and 1b respectively, the Day 1c field has already surpassed both figures with still seven levels left in the day.
As of the end of Level 3, the total entries has surpassed the 2,000 mark with registration open. Late registration for Day 1c closes at the start of Level 7, with a bumper field also expected on Day 1d.
