Rings are back in Marrakech! From the 12th of January until the 21st, the Casino de Marrakech, inside the luxurious Es Saadi Resort, is hosting the prestigious WSOP Circuit tour for the ninth time in its history. Thirty tournaments, including 13 ring events, are scheduled during these two weeks of competition.
In the last few days, Frederik Thiemer already claimed the 4,500 MAD Opener event (500,000 MAD, approximately €45,500), and Russia's Dmitrii Belikov won his first WSOP ring in the 6,000 MAD Mini Main Event (700,000 MAD, around €64,500). Another player will be crowned in the 20,000 MAD High Roller and win 1,200,000 MAD (€110,000) as the final table will be played and streamed today. But all eyes will be on Day 1a of the 15,000 MAD Main Event, which starts today at 1 p.m. local time.
Last year, Portugal's Silvio Domingues Costa took the first-place prize of 2,000,000 MAD (€180,423). Out of a field of 1,041 entrants, he eventually defeated Antony Lellouche in a three-hour heads-up battle.

After a brief delay, cards are in the air for Day 1a of the WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event, with 40 players in their seats.
After he eliminated Romain Retiere on the second hand of the day with AxAx against AxKx, Nicola Pezzullo opened to 300 from the button, and was only called by Ricardo Spencer in the small blind.
Pezzullo continued with a bet of 300 on a flop of 8♦3♠2♠, then fired a second barrel of 900 on the turn Q♠. Spencer check-called both times.
On the river 5♦, Spencer checked and Pezzullo bet 2,000. Spencer went into the tank, but eventually folded, revealing the A♠.

Thierry Aqua was in middle position when he bet 600 on a 5♣6♣10♥ flop. Fabrizio Casino in the big blind called, then called again after Aqua fired a second barrel of 1,300 on the turn 2♦.
The J♥ came on the river, with Aqua immediately betting 2,700. Casino went into the tank for a few seconds, and called with Q♠10♣ for a pair.
Aqua only had 9♦8♦, so the dealer pushed the pot in Casino's direction.
