Esfandiari Wins Huge Pot

Livello 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Antonio Esfandiari opened for 425 and a player in the small blind re-raised to 1,125. The big blind folded and Antonio decided to call.

The flop read {J-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and The Magician called his opponent's c-bet of 925.

The turn came a {8-Hearts} and the small blind fired again, this time for 1,675. Esfandiari again called.

The {Q-Spades} completed the board and the player in the big blind fired one last barrel for 3,225. Esfandiari counted out a call and contemplated his options for about a minute, but then announced "Pot. I'm all in," for a littler over 10,000.

His opponent fell hard into the tank and agonized for several minutes. Someone (we're not sure who) called the clock and Esfandiari's opponent finally announced, "Call."

The Magician tabled the {A-Spades}{9-Spades} for the rivered straight and his opponent mucked.

"How do you shove there?" he said.

"I dunno. I had a straight. You're supposed to raise when you make a straight," Esfandiari replied.

The Magician is now among the chip leaders with 28,000.

Flack: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Flack was behind and found no help when then {4-Spades} hit the turn and the {J-Clubs} came on the river.

Grant Hinkle checked the {J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop and his opponent bet 550. Hinkle made the call to see the {K-Spades} fall on the turn. Hinkle checked again, but this time he didn't just call his opponent's 1,250 bet. He check-raised to 2,500. His opponent called. The river was the {8-Hearts} and Hinkle checked. So did his opponent.

Hinkle showed the {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, but lost to the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for his opponent and dropped back to 8,000 in chips.

Joe Sebok
Joe Sebok

One player raised to 500 from middle position before Joe Sebok reraised to 1,800 from the button. The original raiser called to send him and Sebok to the flop. The {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds} was spread by the dealer and the first player checked. Sebok bet 2,300 and his opponent check-raised to 7,500. Sebok made the call.

The {8-Clubs} fell on the turn and the middle-position player fired 8,000. Sebok called and was all in for less than his opponent's bet. The middle-position player tabled the {2-Spades}{2-Hearts} while Sebok showed top set with the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

The river completed the board with the {9-Diamonds} and Sebok doubled up. He's now got about 36,000 in chips.
