Baldwin Quadruples for Free

Livello 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

Under the gun, Eric Baldwin raised to 1,400 and received one caller before a player in position raised to 5,100. It folded to Baldwin who four-bet to 12,400 and the player who flatted his initial raise folded. If a four-bet wasn't enough, his opponent five-bet all in and Baldwin snapped him off with {k-}{k-}. He was ahead of the [axqx of his opponent] and held that lead through the {10-}{10-}{7-} flop. However, the turn and river brought an Ace and shipped the pot away from Baldwin.

The stacks were counted and it turned out that Baldwin had the player covered by just one 25 chip. Since it was on the very last hand before the color up break and you can't get raced out of the tournament, Baldwin earned an automatic quadruple up to 100.

He's going to need a lot of help though as that is just one ante.

Color Up

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

Players are now on a 20-minute break while the dealers color up the chips. We have one more level to play here on day one.

Affleck's Ploy Pays Off

We came across Matt Affleck battling it out with Vanessa Selbst in a raised pot on a {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{A-Spades} board. Affleck put out a bet of 1,300 and was eventually raised by Selbst to 4,200. Affleck made the call and to the turn we went.

When the {J-Hearts} hit on the turn Selbst wasted no time and put Affleck all in. Affleck instantly called and flipped over {A-}{A-}. Selbst slowly put her cards in the muck and mixed them around so no one could know what she had before the river could even come out.

A meaningless {10-} hit on the river and Affleck doubled up.

Baldy Chips Up

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante
Eric Baldwin
Eric Baldwin

Eric Baldwin called a raise from the button of 1,500 preflop. The flop came {6-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and both players checked. The {q-Clubs} fell on the turn and Baldwin's opponent bet 2,300. Baldwin reraised to 5,300 and his opponent folded.

Baldwin now sits with around 35,000 in chips.

Roaring Romine

We found Rick Romine, our massive stack chip leader raising under the gun making it 2,100 to anyone who wants to see a flop. It folded around to the big blind who after taking his time eventually announced all in for 6,100. Romine called and cards were shown.

Romine: {A-}{Q-}
Big Blind: {8-}{10-}

The cards fell {K-}{5-}{K-}{Q-}{2-} and Romine was gifted even more chips to add to his chin high stack.

Rampone Doubles and Then Some

Livello 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

Nicholas Rampone has already made a final table this year in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Triple Chance but he doesn't want to stop there. In a recent hand, the first player to act raised to 1,600, two players called and Rampone went all in for 10,225 from the big blind. The initial raiser moved all in behind Rampone and the other players folded.

Rampone was well ahead with {k-Clubs}{k-Spades} against the {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. The board was relatively sweat free when it ran out {5-Spades}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Rampone earns himself a double up to 24,700.

Selbst Soars

On a board of {Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} we found Vanessa Selbst betting somewhere around 2,500 in chips into her opponent who check-called.

A river (8s} brought four spades to the board, which got them both to check the river. Selbst's opponent showed {Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for two pair queens and eights. Selbst on the other hand held {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} for a 7 high flush and the winning hand.

Hakim Folds and is Left Short

A player limped from under the gun and then a player in middle position raised to 1,800. Jeff Hakim reraised to 4,100 from the cutoff seat with just under 7,000 behind and only the original raiser called.

The flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and both players checked to see the {6-Spades} land on the turn. The first player moved all in, having Hakim covered. Hakim mucked his hand.
