Kramer Sets Sail

With a board reading {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{A-Spades}, an under-the-gun player bet 20,000 and action was on Jamey Kramer. With just 28,000 behind, Kramer had a big decision to make. "You have the king?" Kramer asked. No response.

Kramer proceeded to grab his entire stack and commit it to the pot. His opponent didn't snap-call, which was no doubt a confidence builder, but he did make the call nonetheless. Kramer tabled {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}, but it was no good as his opponent showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Kramer's tournament has come to an end.

Brikis Building a Stack

Josh Brikis
Josh Brikis

Josh Brikis has had quite the Day 2 so far. When the money bubble was burst many hours ago, Brikis was clinging to a short stack and ready to go home. It seems fate has other plans as Brikis has managed to steadily chip up throughout the day, giving him a stack of 240,000.

Brikis put his big stack to good use recently by three-betting a middle-position player's 19,000 raise to 50,000. Both blinds folded as did the original raiser, allowing Brikis to take down the pot without so much as a flop.

Play Beginning to Slow

Livello 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

While eliminations came one after another during the first few levels of play today, that most certainly isn't the case right now. Many of the 63 remaining players are now fairly deepstacked and it seems that they aren't taking quite as many chances. We still expect to lose more players before the end of the night but we're thinking our original guess of 31 players to end the day may have been a bit low.

We still have another 40 minutes left in level 19 and all of level 20 so anything is still possible!

Tostesen Has A Close Call On His Double Up

Livello 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

We came to the table as Jakob Tostesen and Daniel Close were heads up on a flop of {9-Spades}{j-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Close bet out 20,000, and Tostesen put out a raise to 43,000. Close moved all in fairly quickly, and Tostesen called immediately.

Close: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Tostesen: {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Tostesen had outflopped close, but still had to fade some out. The turn brought the {8-Hearts}, bringing a chop possibility as well. The river came the {3-Clubs}, and Tostesen survived the hand to double up to 280,000.

Queens Spell Disaster for Jungblut

Brett Jungblut
Brett Jungblut

We didn't catch all the preflop details, but we do know that three players were all in before the flop.

Martin Stevens: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Brett Jungblut: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Button: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

Jungblut was at risk for his last 60,000 or so while the button was in for 40,000. Stevens had both players covered as the flop came down {2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Both Jungblut and the button seemed resigned to their fate as the {5-Clubs} blanked on the turn. As long as the river wasn't an ace or queen, Stevens would score a double knockout. That is exactly what happened as the {2-Spades} peeled off.

Gill Bests Kerstetter

After a flop of {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Spades}, Carter Gill checked, a player in middle position bet 13,000, and Jamie Kerstetter raised to 31,000. Gill immediately announced he was all in for 132,500. The player in middle position folded and Kerstetter went into the tank.

She debated for a couple of minutes before opting to fold her hand. Carter revealed his {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for nothing but a straight draw and Kerstetter admitted that she had folded a nine. Her stack didn't take too hard of a hit as she still has around 270,000. Gill's stack has now increased to 200,000.
