Cunz Scores a KO

The action folded to an opponent in middle position who raised to 3,500 pre-flop, only to see Australia's Kristopher Cunz re-raise all-in from the big blind. The opponent wasn't all that keen, but with only 8,000 behind, he decided to commit the rest of his stack into the middle. "I don't have a very good hand, but I call."

Cunz: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Cunz flopped two pair and then improved to a full house after the dealer spread the board of {K-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{5-Spades}{K-Spades}. He's now up to 70,000 and another one bites the dust.

Martin Comer Flushes Opponent Right Out of the Room

Livello 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After getting all of the chips in the middle preflop, Martin Comer flipped up his {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and was hoping for a coin flip situation at worst. When he saw the {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} held by his opponent, Comer figured a chop was in the cards.

Flop: {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}

Comer had picked up two spades on the flop, and although a split pot was still a statistical likelihood, he was now freerolling for the entire pot.

Turn: {2-Spades}

Comer was now just one spade away from eliminating his opponent in the most agonizing way a poker player can imagine. Both players waited for the dealer to burn and turn the river card.

River: {4-Spades}

When the fourth spade hit the board, the entire table exploded in excited conversation while the dejected opponent hit the rail in a stunned stupor.

La Sengphet Sings "Ship It!" After Spiking Runner-Runner

We heard the victorious screams of La Sengphet as she sang "Ship it!" and rushed over to catch the aftermath of a brutal bad beat. Sengphet had shoved all-in preflop with {Q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} in a desperation move designed simply to steal the blinds and antes. Unfortunately for her, an opponent snap-called and turned over {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, and his pocket rockets had Sengphet's bluff in bad shape.

The flop rolled out {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and Sengphet picked up four additional outs with her gutshot straight draw. The {Q-Clubs} on the river intensified the dramatics, as Sengphet could now catch any nine, queen or three to overcome the aces held by her opponent.

River: {Q-Spades}

With that, Sengphet's steal attempt had transformed into trip queens and the exuberant young lady had scored a much needed double-up. She now sits with 46,000 chips after nearly shipping her stack on a pure bluff.

Which Alexander is the Greatest?

We've just picked up on a particularly unique elimination in which two players shared the same first name!

The action folded to Alexander Martin who raised to 2,600 with {A-Spades}{J-Clubs} before Alexander Keating re-raised all-in for 18,500 with {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. Martin called and then the dealer spread the board of {6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. With neither hand improving, Keating was KO'ed and Martin chipped up to almost 70,000.

Smith Staying Afloat

Livello 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

A player in the cutoff opened to 2500 and found two callers, including Justin "Boosted J" Smith from the big.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Smith checked, prompting a c-bet to 3,300 from the original raiser. The button folded, but Smith announced he was all-in for about 16,000 more. His opponent quickly mucked.

Smith is back up to 26,000.

Gianluca Speranza Spears Opponent Holding Big Slick

We passed by a table and heard multiple players speaking excitedly in their native Italian. Apparently their countryman, Gianluca Speranza, had just doubled up through an unknown opponent with his {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and this development was cause for a minor celebration.

The final board read {3-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Gianluca's opponent held {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. In a classic coin flip situation, the Italian professional's pair of tens in the hole had held up against big slick, and he doubled his stack of 24,400 in the process. While a few of Speranza's tablemates began discussing his double-up in fluent Italian, a small contingent of fellow Italians gathered along the rail to congratulate their compatriot.

Badecker in a Bad Way

Our PokerNews field reporter was on the scene just as the cards were tabled between Andrew Badecker and an opponent after they had gotten all their money in the middle before the flop; the opponent was at risk with {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} but found himself flipping against Badecker's {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

However, the dealer spread the board of {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades} to give the opponent the bigger two pair and the double-up, leaving Badecker with just 8,000.

MacPhee's Stack Smashed

Kevin MacPhee is now down to just 14,000 in chips after losing a big pot to David Rounick.

The action folded around to Rounick who raised to 2,600 from late position; MacPhee re-raised to 5,700 from the button and Rounick called before both players checked the flop of {6-Clubs}{A-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Rounick then led out for 7,500 on the turn of the {J-Spades} and MacPhee called before Rounick bet 10,000 on the river {A-Hearts}.

MacPhee called, but mucked after Rounick showed {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for trips. Rounick is now up to 180,000 after that hand.
