Wade Gets Fair To Fold

We picked up the action on a {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop where Ryan Fair bet 500. Tristan Wade popped it to 1,250 and was called by Fair, landing the {Q-Spades} on the turn.

Fair check-called 2,075 from Wade and then led out for 2,200 when the {10-Diamonds} hit the river. Wade, though, raised to 6,000.Fair mulled it over for about a minute before saying,"You look pretty comfortable. You don't look nervous at all."

After about another minute Fair gave it up, surrendering the pot to Wade.

Unexpected Win for Frankenberger

Livello 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Action folded to World Poker Tour Player-of-the-Year and 2011 World Series of Poker bracelet winner Andy Frankenberger in the small blind and he put in a small raise to 300. The big blind made the call and it was heads up to the {10-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop.

Frankenberger check-called a bet of 500, and then both players checked the {K-Clubs} turn. Again, both players checked when the {9-Spades} peeled off on the river. "Ace," said the big blind.

Frankenberger seemed surprised and quickly revealed {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for the winning hand. "I wasn't expecting to win that one," Frankenberger said with delight.

Hall Shortfall

Livello 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

A player on the button opened for 225, and Galen Hall defended his big blind. The flop came {Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Hall checked, his opponent bet 275, and Hall called. The turn was the {Q-Hearts}, pairing the board. Again Hall check-called, this time for 400.

The river was the {5-Clubs}. Hall checked once more, and his opponent pushed out a bet of 1,600. Hall tanked for a full two minutes, then let his hand go.

A rocky first level for Hall, who has lost nearly a third of his starting stack so far. He sits with 20,500.

Pilgrim Not Thankful for this Hand

Dwyte Pilgrim raised to 275 preflop and received a call from the player in the small blind, who then check-called a bet of 325 on a {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop. Both players proceeded to check the {2-Clubs} turn and watched as the {9-Hearts} appeared on the river.

The small blind led out for 450 and Pilgrim called. The small blind rolled over {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for aces and sevens with a jack kicker, which was enough to get Pilgrim to muck.

Quads Quash Obrestad

Livello 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Just about 45 minutes into play, and we've had an elimination -- Annette Obrestad.

We only got over as the chips were being pushed to Obrestad's opponent and the 2007 WSOPE Main Event champion was walking away. The board read {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Word was Obrestad had turned a straight and got it all in there versus an opponent holding {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for a set of sevens. The river brought him quads, and sent Obrestad out early.

Li'l One for Angelil

Livello 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Three players saw a flop come {7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Rene Angelil checked, the player in the cutoff bet 500, and both the button and Angelil called. All checked the {10-Clubs} turn. The river brought the {8-Spades} and a bet of 800 from Angelil. The player in the cutoff folded, but the button called.

Angelil showed {J-Spades}{5-Spades} for the flush, the cutoff mucked, and the button showed his {A-Hearts}{9-Spades} for a straight. Angelil collects a few, moving to 32,000.

Katchalov Loses a Little

On a board reading {7-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and 3,650 in the pot, an unknown player checked and Eugene Katchalov bet 2,000. His opponent made the call and then checked the {Q-Diamonds} river. Katchalov bet another 3,500, his opponent check-raised to 7,000, and Katchalov insta-folded.

The Ukrainian is down to 23,000 here in the early goings of Event #46.

Dwan Arrives

Livello 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Tom "durrrr" Dwan is here, presently chatting with Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott who sits on Dwan's left. Just now Dwan raised to 300 from the button, Ulliott folded, and the player in the big blind reraised to 1,200. Dwan continued talking with the Devilfish, all the while eyeing his opponent as he did. Finally he tossed out calling chips.

The flop came {3-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Dwan's opponent didn't immediately act. His left hand, resting on the table, moved a bit and Dwan asked if he was checking. The BB then grabbed chips and bet 1,600.

The dealer leaned forward to caution Dwan's opponent about the ambiguous gesture. "Doesn't matter," said Dwan, who tossed his hand and resumed his chat with Ulliott.
